Had one of those really annoying detailing days today.

I decided today was the day the Megane would be rolled out and polished and re-waxed for the summer. Set up the gazebo and set to work.

Interior wiped down with Autoglym Rubber & Vinyl Care and looking good.

Next step was a thorough rinse, followed by a careful wash with a microfibre wash mitt and Dodo Juice Born to be mild. All was going fine until it came to rinsing, all of the sudden my Karcher just starts going, 'whirrr, whirrr, whirr' which it had done intermittently every 30 seconds but this time was constant.

Go to rinse the car and the pressure from it is right down. Enough to rinse the car without a problem but not enough to pre-rinse next time! F*cking thing.

Anyway, I dry the car, under the bonnet, all the shuts etc and get to work going over it with Dodo Juice Need for Speed. I wipe each panel with a microfibre just to make sure there's no dust on the panels and apply.

After applying and buffing each panel, I'm ready to wax. So crack on with applying Dodo Juice Orange Crush. Again wiping each panel but this time leaving the wax to cure a little before buffing.

But then, what's this??? A few spots of rain, fecking brilliant!! Not only has my Karcher died the bloody weather is coming to poo in my pot of wax. Luckily, the gazebo covers most of the car except from the bonnet forward so I just had to wipe the rain spots off.

In the end I decided to call it a day and rolled the car back into the garage. Haven't bothered covering it as I'll get it back out this week after work to give it another layer or wax.

One good thing was finding a new Karcher pressure washer, better spec than the old one. Found it on Tesco direct which I can collect in store on Tuesday. The Mrs had a shed load of vouchers so got it for £50!!

Excuse the long post

Well luckily the weather didn't spoil the detail as such but was still frustrating.

Thing is the weather is a pain, if it's breezy I'm extra cautious although luckily it wasn't dusty today. Good thing is that I'll pick up my Karcher on Tuesday, then give the Megane another wash, but this time re-seal the wheels and another layer of Orange Crush, followed by Red Mist Tropical.

Once I've done that, I'll be happy. Next step will be the cambelt ;)

Mine hasnt been cleaned now for 2/3 weeks :( im awaiting the car cover to arrvie that should be this week then ill clean it at the weekend :)

Hopefully weather will be fine

A kinked hose into the pressure washer can look like the unit has died. I snagged the hose behind a tyre and didn't notice a kink... Thought the washer was gone as it whirred but no pressure. Started packing away and realised. Fine after :)

I hate dust at this time of year from plowed fields, followed by bug splats in the summer, followed by dust from harvesting in the autum, followed by salt in the winter....

I know what you mean about the kinked hose, unfortunately it wasn't that. I have the hose running down the side of the house so it's straight the whole time.

I had a feeling it was on it's way out for a while. It's been intermittently whirring at me which isn't a good sign. Still, a new, better model for £50 can't be bad.

The dust can be a real pain and if I can see dust appearing quickly on the tinted glass (easiest place to spot it), I'll stop and leave a full detail/protection. Would rather not be buffing dust and dirt into the paintwork.
