.... so am considering selling the Recaros....

I may not but weighing up my options. Anyone got any suggestions of how I can raise a "few" pounds for work related items....

ARGH!!!!

Al!!! i would have had them off you!!! but ive now booked a holiday and spent £2,000 + over the past two days so im now pretty much broke! :(

Should have said sooner!!

Any ideas you get...let me know.. wouldnt mind raising some myself!

Good luck:)

Hm....

Do you have any items laying around the house that you could sell (that are yours to sell!) ?
Try some freelance work if possible? (not sure on situation on this!)
Diversify the area in which you would/what you can do? (if possible?)

Well that's the thought with the car. I could raise a few £££s with the seats etc.
Maybe another £500 with other bits like clothes and my DSLR etc

Thing is with this freelance work it's all post stuff and I want to go into cinematography. Looking at most media job sites you can make £200-400 a day hiring yourself out as a cameraman with your own kit - which is the £4.5k I need.
I also want to make an impact quick with filmwork. Get myself known and out there and doing all this post work isn't going towards that.

I've been giving it a lot of thought lately (what with being housebound) and have taken enormous inspiration from the film that was out last year - Monsters - don't know if you've seen it?

You could raise money through selling bits for your car..however, i think you're like in the sense that the car is a hobby/something you enjoy...so it would be a shame to see the hard work being undone...however i guess priorities have to be considered.

I understand what you say about freelance work...however if it allows you to save up enough for the equipment for cinematography, isnt the short term loss worth it for the long term gain ( i don't know as i don't know this area of business at all)

Not seen the film no....unless you're on about monsters inc? which is AWESOME! haha

De-valuing one of your most valuable assets isnt a good idea, plus its your baby and a your fun toy. Are you a home owner or have any property? Do you own your car out right? May be possible to secure a loan against that as it an easily realisable asset, that or create a 'business' or work plan and try and explain to the bank your work plans for the next few years...you would need a very flexible bank manager though. Otherwise credit card or other flexible form of unsecured form of loan for that amount is not unrealistic, depending on your credit rating and other financial obligations obviously.

No, not a home owner but do have a good credit rating. I have a cc with a £10k limit on it with zero on it; but really really do not want to put it on that. The car has less than a year before I own it (0% finance, zero end bubble so it made sense back then) Pretty sure I could get a £5k bank loan tomorrow if I needed but again, really don't want any sort of finance that's going to cost me the Earth.

Credit cards are flexible though, you can pay early with no penalty so good for short term gain. See if they have any offers, if you have £0 on there then they may offer you an extended interest free period to get you using the card again, or look for a card offering a long introductory interest free period on purchases/balance transfers. Then just swap the balance to another new card with a long interest free period just before that one runs out. The balance transfer fee is significantly less than the cost of all the interest plus you would only be paying off the capital. Easier than getting a loan, probably cheaper too.

As above, you could get yourself another 0% credit card and use that, then pay it back over the next 12 months? To be honest, bank is your only real option as you can't really raise that kind of cash quickly. Even selling the seats will take time, effort and as someone else has mentioned you'll be losing something you enjoy!

I will buy your recaros.... name your price. Money waiting ;)

lol they'd tell me to go to a bank. Only issue with that is I'd have to lie. Since this government took over and pulled all the plugs on injecting money into the UK film industry it has caused all manor of issues!

on a light hearted note, have u considered being an escort? sell your body to all those rich desperate women that are out there?

Not gunna lie.. i would give you £50 for a lapdance...if you wore a big teddy bear head....

apply for a barclaycard platinum, buy the equipment on your existing card, transfer the balance, pay it off over the 18 month interest free period. 2.9% balance transfer so 4630.50/18 = 257 a month?

No joke - and this is completely true - one of my mates uni housemates was in debt and as a joke his flatmates joined him up to an online escort service, adding his photo, bio etc.

He was contacted by a mature lady who had split up with her wealthy husband blah blah. Anyway he agreed to accompany her one evening - they did a meal, theatre and a bar - all paid for by her.

Guess how much he was paid - and baring in mind he only went on the "date" after the money cleared....... £10,000!!!!!
