I was threatened today:(

I was out walking my dog (cocker spaniel puppy) with my girlfriend over a field (with a public footpath on it) and this guy who was doing some building on the land (very unlikely he has planning permission for it.. i plan to pursue this) drove at us (dog was off the lead because he is well behaved). He then stopped and started having a go at me saying it wasnt public property to walk on (he is wrong it is a public footpath so i can!) he also had a massive go at me saying i don't pick up dog poo as i didn't have a bag full of it (Fitch had not been yet as we hadnt been out long)...he then made me prove to him i had poo bags to pick it up.. he then told me to get off the land and not come back

i feel pretty shaken up by it and threatened ....

im a nice person and i try to stay out of trouble because i don't want trouble.

Go to the police. Sounds wimpy but if it's a public footpath then your aloud to walk on it. Also it was threatening behaviour which has made you feel extremely threatened. Also he's likely to be there again if he's building and if police come along they may looking into the planning for you. Win win

But seriously you could talk to the police for some advice if it was bad?

One, get a Staffy, everyone just gives you evils but stays away because they don't wunna be mauled to death haha!!

Secondly, find out the estate and find out if the land has public path, or if you need a licence from the council to walk across. If it is public, report him, but good luck getting anywhere as it's your word against his and you won't win, no matter how right you are!! Even if you recorded him saying the things he did, knowing the CPS, you still won't get anywhere!!

Bit of an old grump guts if you ask me, sowwy you had a bad experience doggy walking, trust me, I've had it too. From mothers, park rangers and land owners. If you know you're in the right, just smile, bite your tongue and carry on walking.
