Hey - Happy New Year to all on Twingo133.net

I want to juice up my RS Twingo but I don't want to pay stupid amounts of £££s. I was thinking about changing the air filter for a BMC cotton one and performing a stage 1 remap. Has anybody done anything similar (if so, how did it go?). There's a place in Dorset (K-tec-Racing) who do a package on this sort of thing but I'm near Manchester so if anybody knows of a place like this near me I was would be happy.

Thanks in advance and have a great 2014!!!

Welcome.

You may find Leeds a bit closer ;) RS Tunning for the remap. Just dont expect huge increases in power from it without a fair amount of work/money

something that i don't think anyone has done here yet (dont know why?) would be to vent the PCV directly to atmosphere instead of circulating it back into the burn. this will maximise the efficiency of the burn and free up some horses. on hondas, there has been increases of a 15-20 bhp by doing this alone. offcourse when your MOT comes back around you will need to hook it all back up to pass the test, then again they probably may not even notice it other than the smell. probably best to do this before you map it, so that when mapped it can have this taken into account. the first thing i'd do is port and polish your head and intakes, get it flowing perfectly to get a smoother delivery.

wouldn't advise you to look at neil's (singlespeed) progress thread as it will break your heart like it's broken his wallet even though he's loaded lol

In have run my crankcase breather in to a catch tank, then to atmosphere through a small breather filter instead of going back to the inlet hose just before the throttle body. The small hose where it should connect back to is plugged. Although, the catch tank showed no signs of collecting any oil so its not fitted at the moment as I'll need to make new mountings for it. So, I'm just using the breather filter on the end of the hose for now. Tank will be going back on once the car is back from Leeds.

 :? I think my trip to Leeds is on page two or three of my thread

Don't listen to oscar at all when he says don't read singlespeeds thread as that advice is total bullshit as you need to read his thread to realise how much work has to go into a twingo RS to get significant power gains, then you'll understand you can't easily do that on the cheap.

First of all find out how much power your car actually has to start with as some more abused twingos have as little as 124bhp and healthier ones have 135bhp both without remaps and fairly standard, then you can decide whether you need to spend money on tuning, a remap won't give massive gains but the drive ability and how the power comes in will make it feel faster also adding an exhaust and even removing the bung in the airbox will make it feel faster by the noise as the gains could be very little.

deffinately do listen to me gray :) i'd be hoping anyone other than waitey read what i said and instantly read it as ''do not read neils thread, as it will make you cry'' ...bit of humour you know? with how much time and money he has put into it. neils gordini is a sterling example of what can be done when money isn't too much of an object, and neil also knew what i meant too. deffinately will make anyone cry who thinks that they can spend little money on a N/A engine and see fair power gains.

anyway.

Humour doesn't always read the same :?

As Waitey mentions, how well its looked after can have a bearing on the power of the engine, so theres not much point in paying a fair chunk of cash for a remap unless its looked after.
Oil and filter change.
Gearbox oil change might be worth while.
New plugs unless they are fairly fresh.

Work from there....
