Hello,

Took my Twingo out on a cold engine sped off to pretty high revs in second gear. Now I'm not sure if it was preciously making the noise or it has just got louder but a sound as though a fan with some thing stuck in it is making a clicking/tapping noise. Hard to explain. Will try to get a video of the sound up tomorrow. Is it normal for a Twingo to be making loud fan noises?

Any one got a sound clip of what a idle Twingo engine sounds like so ican compare?

Either way is it worth just getting it checked in a garage?

Cheers
Paul

haha have I really just read that?!

...cold engine, sped off, hi revs 2nd gear

would be handy to know what model of twingo you have before anyone can try and make a diagnosis, also the worst thing you can do for an engine is to rev it through the gears when it's stone cold. what you've just done is the automotive equivalent of stabbing yourself in the eyeball and then complaining about loosing your site, it's your own fault. don't do it!

depending on model, it could be the turbo stressing on thick oil and tearing itself a new ring or possible pinking on the 133 models. k4m engines are awful for pinking on cold starts.

for your information i'm trying my best not to swear, i'm absolutely eff'ing fuming at you after reading that.

Yea my bad. I'm totally new to performance cars. I know nothing about fixing them either. I hope I havnt ruined my engine... :(

it has nothing to do with performance cars. wether you're a 0.9L nissan micra of a 16L veyron you're still bound to the same rules of physics and the laws of thermodynamics / frictional wear. the most critical and dangerous time for an internal combustion engine is on start up, and 98% + of your entire engine wear comes from cold starts over it's lifetime. i'm pretty sure your car will be fine, you certainly didn't help it much though. let it warm up, you'll know when it's warmed up by setting the heating to full hot. once you notice it's at full heat through the heating vents ; feel free to kane it! until then, as low an RPM as possible within reason. but if you notice anymore problems, feel free to contact me. where are you based curiously?

god i feel like a school teacher. maybe i just don't like seeing a renault get abused haha
