And it's going my head in!

We're part way through 8-10 weeks of building work being done on our house. The Mrs 133 is rather filthy as I've not been able to wash it due to the weather. One clear day and the builders are currently sawing up wood so not ideal to be washing a car nearby.

Luckily the Gordini is clean and covered but I hate having a filthy car sitting there! :? :?

a rainy day is ideal for washing it, as the dirt and insect splats will be softned. Less dust blowing about.

I don't mind a day that's been rainy or will rain later on but torrential rain isn't exactly ideal. Not with a power supply outside for the pressure washer and vacuum. Also, neverk now what comes down with the rain either but yeah I'm with you on there being less dust.

Sadly, when they're sawing at massive timbers about 10ft away though, don't fancy rubbing saw dust into the paintwork.

Still, at least we've got nearly a whole new floor appearing on top of our house! lol

I know the feeling, looks like I've been rallying as people pointed out at the national meet. Annoying I'm working a lot and it hasn't rained when I'm not. Stupid hosepipe ban grrrr

Yeah luckily Tia's one doesn't do mega mileage so isn't at that stage where the car just looks brown but you can see a nasty film of sh!t all over it.

I've actually boxed up all my detailing gear but I've left one small selection of the necessaries so I can give the car a wash inside out, got emergency polish and Red Mist for protection haha. Just need an opprotunity to do it.

And to think if the weather was reasonable I'd come home and clean it after work! Fat chance with all this damn rain.

Mine is filthy the wheels r black and that bloody cat from next door has been climbing over my bonnet AGAIN

These light nights are great, got back from the pub yesterday about 6pm and washed the Gordini.
Didnt go back in til 8.30pm.

Similar to you Alex, the mrs car looks like its done the Paris-Dakar rally.
Was out in it today so pleased i didnt wash that. Its rained most of the afternoon.

Waterless cleaning is what I used the other day. Worked well for how dirty mine was. But not convinced fully

Well it finally got a good wash inside and out.

Interior vacuumed, plastics wiped down with AG Rubber & Vinyl Care, glass cleaned with AG Glass Cleaner.

Bodywork pre-rinsed, pressure washed and then washed with Bilt Hambler Autowash and Meguiars wash mitts. Rinsed and dried with fluffy blue drying towels. Then gave it a once over with Red Mist.

Phew, feel much better knowing it's nice and clean :D

My interior was all shiny black and oily when I picked it up.
Cleaned it all with Megs All Purpose Cleaner and protected all the plastics with 303 Aerospace Protectant to give a nice factory look matt/satin finish.

I used the AG V&RC a couple of times in previous cars but never really got on with it.
Still use it but only in the engine bay. Once cleaned, spray whole bay liberally whilst the engines warm and leave to dry to a nice glossy finish.

You seem pleased to have given your car a once over Alex. :D

Stupid thing is, it's not even my car haha, it's the other half's Twingo. Because of the building work we're having done, my Twingo is sat on the drive covered up so it's clean and ready to go when I get a chance.

The Mrs car on the other hand was filthy after 5 or 6 weeks or use and constanty rain and nastiness on the roads. Now looks nice and clean. Just itching to give it a full on clay, polish and protect at some point.

With the AG Rubber & Vinyl, I tend to use it on almost all the plastics on the car. But I spray it onto the cloth and wipe it over rather than spray onto the plastic and wipe. If it's too shiny, I'll wipe it over with the dry side so it's more matt. Nothing worse than a greasy, mega siliconed up dash board.

I rather like Meguiars Ultimate Protectant Dash & Trim Restorer but it's a lot more fiddly as it's like applying a liquid wax. Leaves a really nice matt finish, I tend to use that in my Megane although I have a bottle of Chemical Guys - V.R.P Dressall which I keep meaning to use.

The AG desnt sound too bad then when you do it that way.

For the quick detailing products, I always use after the weekly wash I just cant move away from Clearkte Quickshine.
Its amazingly slik stuff.

I finished the car off yesterday with Autosmart Reglaze and to me it was like when you wash with Megs Gold Class. Clean to the squeek which is not what I really want.
I went straight back over it with CK QS and the difference is like chalk and cheese.
You know that just waxed smoothness that means if you put your polishing towel on the bonnet it would slide off.

Youre a red mist fan arent you Alex?
Never tried it, so might give it a try as CYC are out of stock on the CK QS. :(

Yeah the AG stuff is pretty good for a quick wipe over but on some surfaces can be a little over whelming on the glossy/slick side of things so a wipe with a dry bit of microfibre and you're good to go! Works nicely on the exterior black bits too although not as long lasting as some.

I am quite a fan of Red Mist, I tried it when it first came out and was really impressed. Even to a recently polished and waxed car it gives a certain slickness to the finish. Plus it adds protection on top of your usual wax which is always a plus.

Even to an unwaxed car it adds that slickenss you're talking about. That lovely smooth feel of a freshly waxed car. Well worth a go. :)

That Quick Shine sounds like a very similar product to Red Mist so maybe give it a try at some point. A mate of mine was a Dodo Juice seller so got a good discount and stocked up somewhat haha. When I run out though, I'll give it a go. :)

Gutted at moment about Quikshine.
Seems like NO ONE has in stock anywhere.

Will have to try something else.
May go redmist or some Jeffs Acrylic Glos

I must admit I washed the Mrs car about 4 weeks ago and the Red Mist is still beading up nicely. Hoping it holds up ok for another 3 weeks until our house is finished as I don't have access to any of my gear at the moment. :(

Amy needs a good one before fcs. I managed to clay her before the roof was wrapped and started with vertuabond, glossworkz and 50/50 on the front and managed 4 panels before I got rained out and now I gotz stitches In my back and not allowed to bend so may make Carrie do it. I may also find her a maids outfit if that does happen
