Just had a quick search of the forum but I am looking for some reasonable insurers (ones i've not heard of who are very good). I've done the go compare type thing and cheapest I have come up with is £335 through Swift Cover.

Just wondering if there are any lesser known ones out there that are good.

Thanks

i've always found admiral to be the best insurer, their prices are quite consistently low and they are really easy to deal with. they never ask you for a copy of your license and haven't asked me for proof of no claims so i never have to worry about all that crap. at the begining of the year my policy ran out, admiral got out quoted by premium choice which is a small company so i went with them...and it got cancelled within a week when they phoned me up and told me i'd lied about having my license, 2 days short of 7 years so that was to be calculated as 6 years so the premium went up by 94 pounds. i haggled with them, they wouldn't budge ... cancelled it. told admiral i was 2 days short of 7 years and the guy said ''ah well, i'll take a note to amend that for you in two days and we will calculate the policy on 7 years with 4 years no claims'' then haggled the quote down to 50 cheaper than premium choice and got free breakdown too!

Christ! They're swines the majority of these companies. I was with YourCover for the year just gone and they played that good ol' trick of adding £200 extra onto my policy to renew.

God knows who runs these companies but you would think the main aim would be to get customers to become loyal and go with them year after year.

Get looking around mate, i searched today and mine will be going down from around £950 to £600 when it comes to renewal time...

Last year Admiral charged me an extra £175 while i was on holiday because before i went, i was seeing how much it would be to add certain parts to my old corsa, they added it on without asking, i was fuming and they wouldn't return the money as apparently i had already put these parts on!

Would that work for 2 months? Lol my renewal is 2 months before my 21st...

Mine was £505 with Admiral which was the cheapest I could find with 3 years no claims at age 21.

Admiral also class options as modifications too so you have to declare everything thats been added else that will invalidate your insurance. Think all my options added about 150 quid to the policy and mine didnt have rs spoiler etc

Wow thats good munson, who you with, mines £327 with a £300xs and the all important protected no claims.

Jmr.. The joys of being old .. Lol & my xs is £150.. No points no accidents & 5000miles a year..
I only payed £450 when I had my megane 230 & I was doing 30k a year..

Thanks for the help everyone.

I had a look at a selection of these and at esure but they won't insure me because of previous insurance claims (none of them my fault or at fault for!)

so Swift Cover turned out to be the best at just over £300 for up to 4K a year.

might be cheaper 2 cancel ur policy after the 2 months are up n get a quote from another company, like 50 quid admin fee and that but it might be a huge difference i dunno??

Tell me about it I'm 40! :|

I have a historical claim which is still on the system, when I left the road on a sheet of ice into a lamppost. (previous car) (new bonnet, wing, bumper, radiator, full side respray etc)

It will be gone next renewal so hoping it makes a difference, then again I'm insured as a daily driver up to 20k pa.

I'd hate to be paying what you young guys on here are paying insuring a nice car now.

JMR insurance is a joke, neither I or any of my friends have had a crash since we passed or drove like complete twats, yet we still get singled out my RS will cost £1000 a year but in 3 months it should drop to £800 as that's when I renew.

I'm always more worried about other people on the road than me as some of the driving I see from some 'mature' drivers are horrific! And let's not mention the road rage people have!

You have my sympathy waitey,.

I remember when I was 20, I had boring cars til I'd got my full NCB, but my mate bought a Citroen AX GT, one of the hot hatches of the time, at then it was costing him £1000 a year (20 years ago!!), third party fire and theft only!

I suppose it always has been, and always will be the 'deterrant' for young people wanting nice cars.
