Just been caught speeding, 50 on a country road that was recently been dropped to 30, I thought it was 40, either way was still substantially over the limit.

The copper said it should be 5 points and a run to court, but because I owned up to my mistake and took it on the chin he would bung it down as 3 points and £60.

Was a little naughty was he was hiding in a bush, but more importantly I was breaking the law, so it was a far cop. Live and learn.

Oh bad luck fella :-( no option for speed awareness course, to get away from the points?
Nope due to the speed I was doing, just grateful the copper was reasonable.

To be fair tho mate 3 points are better then 5 points. I had a fear going back last your of losing my liecense i got catch twice in the same week by the same spend camera. Lucky for me i only got 3 points for each but when i was looking it up it was saying 6 for each affence

Sucks getting caught dude but you got off lightly there!
I had a similar thing just over a year ago doing about 45 in a 30 and my mot had run out!! quick flutter of the eyelashes act all girly and a promise I wouldn't do it again and I walked away with a £60 fine for having no mot! But its taught me a lesson and I learnt that policemen aren't at all as bad as people make out!

Oh dear weebob! Looks like you should have stayed at home folding computers or whatever it is you've been doing?

I'm happy for you that they let you off with just 3 points, especially the speed you were going!

I think the speed awareness courses are a great idea, but to be honest i think the people who take them usually just take them to get out of fines/points, which is good for them - but will they learn their lesson? probably not! So unfortunately you have learnt the hard way.. (P.s. i hope someone gives me that speech when i get points coz I'm sure i will :( )

Gutted man, at least you (more or less) got away with it...

I've been driving 3 years now with No Points (touch wood) and only really had one run in with the Police.
53 in a 30:

They didn't have a gun, were parked in a Blind junction to a Dead End and I came flying past them at 4am.
Pulled over before they had the chance to pull out.

Was just honest and remorseful and they just gave me a stern talking to and let me on my way..

My friend got caught doing 65 in a 30 zone (in a village), the police pulled him, breathalised him etc and then said "Don't do it again" and let him on his way without giving him any points or fine or sending him on a course or anything.
Was quite surprised when he said they didn't take any action.

think i met the "fair" copper today

there is a stretch of road on the way to work that is 60mph limit, half way down the road there is a rather tight roundabout.
i was in a "works" car and had just been a moron at the previous set of lights  so came up to the roundabout crossed lanes(duel carrage) hit the roundabout full chat and came out the otherside with both rear tires smoking
after that i saw the famous blue lights

he got me in his car and said what the hell did i think i was playing at :?:

so i replied that the road was a 60mph limit and nowhere did the limit change for the roundabout

he told me to grow up and go away :!: :!: i was amazed, i knew i was being a dick but i had checked it was safe before i did it, he made me feel so bad i apologised several times and then limped off rather slowly

lesson learnt  il save it for the tracks from now on! just glad he was a normal human!he knew i was cocking about and he knew he made me feel very small

we even had a chat about the car

so there are some good coppers out there

sounds weird but im chasing up on my 3 points and fine i owe.
van parked on my side top of hill aiming downhill for other side. some reason i just blitz passed 40bhp on 30.
got letter, was listed as in my fathers name but i changed it to mine, sent off waiting to hear about fine and points.
3 months later nothing. 6 months wrote and went to see police and dvla. year later nothing. had to redo my test and got new counter part and was clean.
maybe i was one of the lucky ones and have proof i tried to sort it out. but as weeb and turbo said, was braking the law and dicking around and should have to pay the price. still check up on it every 6 month lol.

most likely it'll be like my job seekers claim when i left 6th form waiting to go into uni. 4 years later i get a out dated cheque for £20 quid. i can see my self getting points and this one will out of no where set my over the limit.

I did 60 on a 30 at night, it was dead, slight rain.. Carried on and realised some numb nuts was obviously going faster than me as he was getting close fast.. So I went down to Speed and it was a copper.. Pulled me over and basicly said I could have my car taken off me, then I gave him the sad eyes and told him it's my dads car and he sent me away with a good shouting at! Lolll

cops that pull me over frequently told me that cant let people off dow in swansea area as there cams are looked through for the police chase programs on tv. cant be seen letting people off :(

Im so lucky, i must have been pulled over 5 times for doing something silly.. All but one time i got let off.. the only one time i got a warning was when it was over winter time, this massive empty carpark freezes over.. and you can litraly go sideways for like 500 metres and its the most fun i have ever had! i grabbed onto the back of my mates car and he pulled me along as if i was on skates haha nearly broke my neck though, he only went 10mph

But these coppers came on and issued us warnings at 1:30am

Seems a total waste of time. if the car park wasn't empty, and it wasn't that time... but someone just having a bit of fun?

It was awesome, but it was dangerous I guess and theres a bunch of dossy flats that probably had enough of over-revving cars :/
