I got the twingo RS cat back twin port exhuast from the k-tec website, paid with my card and, today I got a phone call saying "ermm we messed up the payment on the card. We have taken the money but we havent got the exhaust, we need to wait a few days before we can put the order in again".

Any other week I'm OK with that, but this week, I'm driving to the Germany for the ring then, back on Monday. I wanted the exuast on by then, but it looks like I'm going to have to wait because of the ****** payment company. I'm not having a go at k-tec, I'm just pissed off at the fact he said this happens all the time, which makes me think isn't it time you change your card payment thing!

(once again) bad ktec.

use it to your advantage and try to blag something for free :) If they want you to be a returning customer they've got to make you happy at the end of the day.

I placed an order on thursday for an engine mount, brake disks/pads and a rs downpipe (which is not available in online shop). I mailed around with a guy called Anthony, who told me no problem to get the downpipe and gave me a quote. But he was not able to send me a paypal link for the apropriate amount for the whole order, instead he asked me to simply place an order online and he will alter the amounts and items manually and charge my card accordingly...

let's see what happens :)

That sounds interesting lol. Adjusting payments? Wheres the decimal place gonna end up?

I've used K-Tech many times for parts (Akrapovic Exhaust, H&R coilovers, DS2500 pads, 330mm Brake kit and KW Clubsports) and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Also, your post having no punctuation what-so-ever made for a pretty difficult read lol.

iguessyourmeaningthefirstpost! For a minute, I thought you were meaning Fredii or myself. I've just editted the original post to how I think it should read ;)

I failed English language three times and generaly struggle with correct use of punctuation. However, I try to make the effort to get things readable, even it it's not going to get an A+ from the grammar pedants.

Progress on the upper gearbox mount :)

Hello Neil,

Thank you for the details and pictures. In answer to your question, yes the mount was trial fitted on a standard car before it was put into production and to date this is the first time I have heard of this.

If its OK with you I will look into this further for you tomorrow and come back to you.

Regards,

Unless theres a difference between builds (mine is an 11 plate Gordini 133), theres not a chance this mount fits, unless Im being a complete muppet and trying it in the wong place... If it goes somewhere else, instructions would have helped!

I've just had the battery tray out and taken some measurements again. The under side of the battery tray has a recessed circle that is 12mm deep to clear the top of the mount, as seen in the picture. Adding this 12mm onto the 23mm which is the depth of the alloy casting where the mount sits... I make this 35mm usable height for the mount.

With the calipers set to 35mm, you can see that the cutdown version is now 35mm tall (installed and compressed, its 34mm). Previously the cut down rubber and top nut would have stuck up beyond this by about 16mm plus the width of lost metal from cutting an filling...So about 18mm too tall as supplied.

As you can imagine, I find it difficult to imagine this being fitted before being put on sale. I hope these additional pictures and measurements from this moning help.

Neil

Just to help you Neil when looking up a battery tray on a Twingo Renaultsport 133 it doesnt ask you for the age just comes up with one part number 244287431R.

Cheers Karl. Out of interest, is the Gbox mount also the same across the age of the car?

I can imagine theres some head scratching going on down in Bournmouth, as to how the battery tray was previously fitted but now it doesn't go back in :?

2 different mounts dependant on the age it give me a choice of before or after April 2008.

Before : 8200410218
After : 8200939896

Thats fine then, as KTR now have a 10 plate RS133 production mule, so should find the same problem as myself :D

After emails back and forth to David, the Gearbox mount is in the post, back to K-tec. Wether the car they had previously fitted the mount to had different mountings or wether their manufacturer had inadvertantly changed the spec, he wasn't sure. So they will be investigating this week :) Getting happier :)

I've been having a conversation with Orb, who has just got one of the k-tec gearbox mounts and it fitted fine... His is a 58 plate car and it appears the later ones like mine have different gearbox mounting or support brackets.

same one but seems mine was fitted underneath rather then on top like yours. will try and sneak a shot in the engine bay
It makes sence that yours fitted if the metal plate could go beneath the gearbox hanger/battery tray support.

The underside of mine is not flat and has threaded bosses for screws to be secured into. Theres also not much room between this and the gearbox pedestal. You can see the screws protruding, which hold the original GB mount

Here, you can see the screws protruding much less as they are now through the thick plate. The new rubber is a perfect height for the bottom piece. But theres no way the metal plate would fit on the underside.

Hence why K-Tec and Vibra-Technics are developing a different mount

Hi Guys, VIBRA-TECHNICS here!

We received the mount back from David yesterday and in trying to find out what had changed came across this forum - divine intervention? Anyway we have noted all the dimensions, created a new drawing and part number for the post April 2008 cars, made a new mount incorporating the revisions and should ship it out today to K-Tec.

Cool. It would have been my mount that came back, as it wouldn't fit under the battery tray without cutting it down. Once cut down, there wasn't much rubber left.

I understand the metal plate went under the alloy support bracket on the earlier cars, although that wasn't an option due to the threaded bosses that are cast into the underside as pictured on my support structure.

Revised K-tec upper gearbox mount
I've had this laying about for a while since David returned it after reworking, just not got around to fitting it untill now

This one fits perfectly under the battery tray and within the support casting as its the same shape as the original mount. Initialy, there was quite a bit of vibration at idle and a bit extra noise to begin with, but nothing significant. It had already started to quiet down a bit after a 20 mile test drive.

Thats now all three engine mounts done.

So, K-tec, Vibratechnics have upper engine mount and gearbox mounts for early (before April 2008) and later (after April 2008) model RS133.
