Just a couple of quick questions (sorry if they are stupid), but I am looking at buying a ktec exhaust for my twingo gt and I have the money ready. But I was wondering how much the additional costs are, such as insurance, I'm guessing its a good idea to declare it? how much extra does it cost over a year for people who have declared it? Also fitment wise, how easy is it to fit the cat-back system. Is it just flanges or is it a chop and weld?

Thank you

installation may or not be easy in regards to how rusted the bolts on your exhaust system are. if they aren't too bad then it's an easy job, will take you around 15 minutes to remove and 15 to refit. make sure you use some exhaust putty on the flanges to stop it blowing and you use new bolts and nuts. when removing start from the back and work your way forward to the catalytic converter so backbox first. when fitting the new exhaust start at the catalytic converter side first, and work towards the backbox section by section it makes it a lot easier and it's how we do it in the garage :) i don't know much about the insurance, i wouldn't imagine it was going to be much more expensive after all it's all in the wording. word it in the sense that you went for a stainless steel exhaust system to eliminate corrosion and failure and you'll be alright. some small fees no doubt, nothing major. what age are you sir?

You need to declare it for sure, as for cost it will depend on your age and location, I've found lowering the car gives you the biggest resistance with insurance companies, exhaust are not so much of a problem, mind you I've declare all my mods (on a 1.2 16V) which includes Bilsteins coilovers (lowered by 25mm), K-Tec solid top mounts, custom stainless exhaust (been fitted tomorrow :D ) new induction system, up-rated discs and pads and my insurance went up by £12 per year.  But then again I'm a bit older than most on here.

I am 19, thank you both for the advice. I have declared my alloys which put my insurance up £22 a year so not too bad

Hope you don't mind me asking, but Which insurance company are you with? Mines due in a few month and I was hoping to find a mod friendly one that doesent charge loads of £££££

Admiral is the best by far sullii, cheapest and not seriously arsy about mods, if you were born in 94 put your mom and dad on the insurance mine was £550 but I live in a privileged area but give it a try its actually cheaper to go through comparison sites for them too

If its your car and your the main driver, it's fine putting parents on as named drivers, which can be handy if they ever need to drive it.
However, having one of them as the main driver and you listed as a named driver would be "fronting" which is illegal

Yeah they are named drivers most insurance company's are wise too it but admiral are still fair plus it means my mom can trash it, so long as it doesn't meet the end of its life like her C2 VTS

https://www.brentacre.co.uk/insurance/modified-cars/

Give these guys a phonecall, cracking prices. I got sick of admiral... I'm with brentacre with modified insurance, any mods = no increase in premium. I email them or phone with any modifications I make. E.g. changing alloys for winter and summer. Admiral would charge an admin fee for doing so where as brentacre just make a note on your policy for free! I can increase my bhp to 150 without paying any extra! and if I want to tune to take it further, it's only another extra £60 to up it to 180bhp.

I paid extra to protect my no claims and for key cover

Fully modified insurance with protected no claims was cheaper than admirals best quote which was for 10months and without the no claims protection! Work that out.

Also try https://www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk/modified-car-insurance/

There's adrian flux but I'm not a fan of them however they did offer to match brentacre.

https://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/modified-car-insurance.html (not related to sky tv....)

You can get a policy with greenlight which includes track day cover I think (best asking on the phone). Brentacre doesn't offer track day cover as an extra.

Also worth noting Brentacre said adding named drivers makes no difference to the policy price with them. With admiral I had to add every female from my family to get the price down

And another note, you have to have at least one modification with brentacre, unsure about the other modified insurance but I'm guessing it will be the same.

One modification isn't exactly hard to do is it
Mods are replaced like for like if you need to make a claim!

Thanks everyone! :)
Will make sure I get some quotes from them, aswell as shopping around.
Already got my mum/dad as named drivers(just incase) but the policy is in my name and I'm down as the main driver
And sorry for hijacking the thread btw! :)

My insurance is £340 on Aviva, they price match admiral and also get added discount from a family member. I do have 2 years no claims but I think it is quite cheap for how young I am. I am just not too sure how mod friendly they are.

Im also with aviva and i added my alloys and exhaust to my policy with no extra cost to my insurance

i'm with churchill. when i phoned up to declare my impreza gc8 seats, i asked if that was okay and the dog said ... ohhhh yessss!

I'm with Admiral on a mulit-car policy, they beat Flux by about £80 - even with all the mods the car has fitted, but then again I have got 21 years NCB   :D

My Spit is insured by Flux - £98 Fully Comp with 2000 miles per year usage, plus agreed value.
