As in just a flat plate with some holes drilled through it. Like the ones shown bottom right here which are probably the 5mm Eibach ones (10mm total)

If thats the case, there won't be any of the hub spigot left sticking out as thats only about 10mm anyway. Without any of the spigot sticking out for the wheel to locate onto to get it properly centered, you risk having the wheel off center which will cause vibration and put extra stress on the wheel bolts, and the suspension/steering components . The 10mm thick (20mm total) spacers can be flat, or have a tophat shape (Hubcentric) which centers the spacer on the wheel and then the wheel on the spacer.

You can probably already guess, but I wouldn't recomend a flat 10mm spacer
