For a tv. Not for absolute quality but so the sound does not come out of the telly itself, as it will be placed on a tank.

Now the TV itself only has optical digital out, and budget for speakers isn't great. So far I've come across Behringer MS20 which look quite good, have optical in and don't even look too bad, found for about £90 so far. Was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

Any cheaper out there? I can't find any with optical in. Not really keen on looking for an adaptor to widen the range, but will if necessary

Surely you've also got a 3.5mm headphone jack in the TV? In which case you could go for a much cheaper option of a PC 2.1 system. Something like these for the £30-50 range.

They're not going to be the worlds best sound, but will be pretty decent for that price.

It does, but not on the back where the cables would be out of sight (would irritate the hell out of me) and I've used it and it was very, very, very quiet no matter what i tried. The tv has the option to use speakers only, but not through that connection. Only digital out. Seems strange a tv at that price point doesn't have stereo connections, and only digital optical.
Davey has found some great speakers at £70 including the optical digital input and cable at maplins, which is surprising. Ill look at them later, might order off scan to save a little more although would be useful to have later to wire them in this weekend whilst I'm there.

I would give Carrie some of my speakers but the ones with optical in are in use
