The twingo had it's first mot done (and a service at the same time) a couple of weeks ago at arnold clark....and passed with no advisories or anything. But one thing they did say which has be worried was they really struggled to get it through the emissions test. They had no answers when I asked why other than it 'probably needs a blast'. Hardly, when it was taken for a good drive before the mot. They won't have just kept trying to do the emissions test until they managed to get it to scrape through the test? would they?

I'm really thinking of booking it in at my local garage I used to always go to and just paying them to basically do an mot inspection because tbh, I just don't trust arnold clark at all. I have the extended warranty also so if anything needs replacing, I want to get it done now. Reading about the problems with the lower ball joints/suspensions arms etc I just want piece of mind. Would you trust them?.....

Oh, they managed to scuff a corner of my front bumper too

Any advice will be grateful :D

Unsure mine got passed with rear lights full red and headlight levels way off, and. I'm sure my emissions were too high also, don't even know the tester.

But others had have emission issues if you search for it

it's usually something tiny like the idle control valves or whatever they are called, getting slightly worn over time or merely covered in gunk or particulates and the ECU having to reset your idle control speed to a slightly higher than normal level. the emissions tests are carried out at the cars factory idle speed and nothing more, so that may have effected it. i wouldn't say it's anything to worry about

Having an electric actuated throttle body, does the 133 have a seperate idle control valve?

I had the same problem last week... 1st MOT and 2nd service [24000mi]

Failed on emissions test - apparantly, I had a 'hole' in my exhaust - which they welded and subsequently passed.
Also needed a new tyre due to a bulge and advisory for a nail in the same tyre [so got a new one] and also front suspension arm ball joint dust covers had split [both sides].

I love my Twingo...but £390 just before Christmas isnt ideal!!

i had the same problem with the ktec cat back system all it needed was a gud drive get the engian hot and it passed i dnt drive mine that much so needed a gud thrashing

i wouldnt think so no, the clioRS doesnt
I've had the inlet apart a few times and there is no ICV.

Maybe it was way too subtle, posing it as a question instead of just putting 'rubbish' as a responce.
