Well can't believe it was all the way back in 2003 that I bought my Clio 172. Was my first brand new car and what a car. A bit step up from the previous 1.2 Clios I'd had.

Anyway, please bear in mind that I was only 21 and this was 2003 so the styling now days would be deemed somewhat dubious!

Bet it was great fun. I still occasionally have a look for 172/182s or 225s

You know what mate, it was superb fun especially as my first quick car. I used it for 2 years as a daily driver and did about 15k in it. Was quick but not expensive to run even though I used to do a 26 mile commute every day.

Also, I drove a friend of mine's 172 and all the memories of what good cars they are came flooding back.

In a straight line the 172 would take a 133 without much trouble. The feel and chassis of even a non-Cup'd 133 is better though. Don't get me wrong, the 172 handles brilliantly but I prefer the more modern feel of the Twingo. If you could get 170bhp from a Twingo 133 it'd be amazing! lol

I wonder if they ever put clio lights on a Lexus ;)

Always preferred the more stuble look of the 172 over the 182.

I'm pretty sure they never did mate haha. In fact I'm pretty sure that Lexus gave up on Lexus lights not long after the IS models!

That said I don't think they actually look terrible on a silver car like the Clio as they blend in. Regardless of that their image is tarnished regardless haha

I'm with you on the styling of the 172 over the 182. So many people would not think the 172 was anything sporty although a trained eye will spot the deeper bumpers, bigger arches, 2.0 badges on the doors etc. That's what I liked about it.

haha!

The 172 is too subtle for me... i love the rear of the 182

To be fair, even the 182 was pretty subtle. You had the twin pipes but other than that it was till subtle, unless you went for racing blue or inferno.

For many people RenaultSport cars only started to stand out because of the twin pipes that the 182, 225 and V6 had.

Both shapes of the 172 were almost too understated for many people.

recently found myself doing the same, had this before the 133

sold it for £5500 last year, but you can pick one up now from about 3 grand so plenty of spare change for some recaros and other upgrades :D

Only problem is... the trophy  for the seats, spoiler, and suspension alone

Hmm yum, I do love that colour on the 182!!

Out of interest why the change from that to the 133? Although I must admit I prefer the looks of the 133 now but the way the 172/182s drive is great and enough to surprise some people. :)

Don't know tbh.

Just fancied a change, had had it over a year and lookers renault were doing those pcp deals for 2 years, didn't like the 200's and they are too thirsty for me. Someone posted pictures of their 133 over on cs.net and I liked the look of it, so ordered one.

The mrs loves it so we'll pay the final payment and keep it for her, god knows what I'm going to get next, but it'll have to be cheaper as my eldest son is 17 next year and he'll want to start driving. I have been looking at the celica vvti/vvtli but lately have been looking at BG 182's, anyway I've got till next september to decide what's next plus we've got a scenic as the family car and I've got the bike.

Fair play to you mate, I must admit I think the Twingo is probably a better drive in most ways over a 172/182 apart from all out speed. :)

That's the one thing I'm totally not fussed about with a car, I'm happy to pootle along 60 - 70 mph in the car, really not fussed. The wife drives faster than me lol.

The only time I speed and want speed is when I'm on the bike, it's like an addiction as soon as I get on one. It's a totally different experience being on a bike than in a car, plus nothing with 4 wheels south of 40/50 grand can match the acceleration and speed of a bike, I'll never afford something like that so I go for looks more than anything with a car and the 133 is a pretty car.

There's hardly any where I live let alone normal twingos, the stares I get when I'm out in the car is unbelievable, people have shouted at me on a few occasion whilst waiting at junctions/traffic lights asking what it is lol

Think I saw this when I was hunting between the 133 or the 182.

Originally I was aiming for a 182 but whilst hunting for a racing blue 182 I came across the Gordini 133 and kinda fell inlove. Although still want a 182 as a track slag!

By speed I mean acceleration as well. No way a 133 would keep up with a 172/182 off the line or in gear. Sound some tight bends it'd be close.

The gap between a 133 and 172 would be similar to a 172/182 to a Megane 225. Not much but enough! lol

i always wanted a 182 in that blue. but could never afford so kept with my 1.2 clio whilst saving. the twingo is my first sporty car and i love it. glad i saved rather than spent all my money back then and then couldnt afford a twingo now.

I have to admit, I actually love 182s in inferno! Rare but look cool. :)
