Well since the sun was shining I thought I’d get outside and give the other half's Twingo 133 a quick going over and some protection.
Firstly I attacked the interior. Was minimal to be honest as I tend to do inside each time I wash it. The Karcher vacuum was my weapon of choice. Also being less than a year old and only having 5k on the clock it’s very easy to stay on top of and keep looking spotless inside.
Gave the interior plastics (there’s a lot of it) a wipe over with Autoglym Rubber & Vinyl care.
The little rubber mat in this handy space is rather necessary. Renault in their wisdom designed a tray that is designed to direct a mobile phone straight out of an open window. A bit of grip is essential! haha
The outside of the car wasn’t especially dirty, only a week’s worth of driving in mostly dry weather. Typically it rained for about 10 minutes last night and left it looking like this.
Nothing too serious as the car only does about 8 miles a day so washing weekly is pretty easy. I gave the car a thorough rinse with an open hose, then a rinse with the pressure washer.
Was good to see last week’s once over with Dodo Juice Need for Speed still beading rather nicely.
I then washed the car using Chemical Guys Maxi Suds shampoo in a large builders bucket, one smaller rinse bucket with grit guard and a Meguiars Microfibre wash mitt. It was then rinsed again using the pressure washer and dried using a Meguiars Water Magnet for the glass and two Cleanyourcar.co.uk fluffly drying towels.
Next up was a test of something old skool and inexpensive, Simoniz Original Wax.
Now I’ll be honest, this stuff is bloody hard work. I was applying thinly and had the Mrs outside buffing off relatively quickly, certainly not letting it bake on. Ended up taking 2-3 passes to buff off and even then can still see product marring! Still, it’s a white car so doesn’t show up too badly and will be protected until I clay and polish properly.
The shuts are easily cleaned with the shampoo and wash mitt so still look like new.
Wheels were washed with Maxi Suds and another Megs wash mitt. Because I don’t tend to use wheel brushes which splatter I’m happy doing these after the car is washed and rinsed.
Now a bad finish for a white car, hard to get a big shine from it. Still makes me look like I’ve I'm one of the Coneheads! Haha
Here she is all clean and looking nice.
Not a particularly intense detail but nice to get some fresh protection on the car and test out a different product.
