So as many of you will know I not so long ago wrapped a few exterior bits on my car in orange carbon wrap.

However I have noticed that the colour is starting to fade away already, granted the wrap I purchased was only a cheapish one off ebay.

I'd like to get it looking sharp again before fcs so...

My questions;

1. Are there any coloured wraps out there that keep their colour for longer? (Over a year if possible)

2. If not is it possible to laquer over the top just to seal the colour?

3. If laquer is applied would it make it impossible to remove?

If I had the money I'd get them sprayed but alas I do not :-(

Help please :)

1. 3m wraps are the best they cost alot more but it's quality your buying.

2. Not to sure it might nacker the Finnish and pull the wrap when it hardens. Try it out on some old plastic and see what happens.

3. I would imagine it would be pritty hard to remove once sealed with laquer.

Ok thanks dude. I'll see if I can get hold of some decent stuff, hopefully it'll last a bit longer! Might just stay away from the laquer lol

Might see if there is anything laying around the workshop on the bottom of my toolbox that is suitable but I think a lot of the old crap got thrown out when we had a mad tidy up the other day :-/

Plastidip them? I've heard that it doesn't fade and you can peel it off whenever

Was thinking of painting but then I've never done it before so don't know the correct procedure and don't want to mess it up :-/

Is that a do it yourself kind of job or do you need to be a bit of a pro to do it?

So it yourself, but the surface needs to be free of ALL contaminants and you'll need several coats with 30minutes drying time in between.

Always build up thin coats with it or it could drip and then you need to peel it off to redo it as its a pain in the plums to correct.

Also the paint is actually fairly expensive so it would be better to get them sprayed properly IMHO as I plasti dipped my reg recess on my GT but only did 3/4 coats so a pressure washer on spray would just destroy it

Also overspray doesn't matter, just get a very sharp blade and cut it apart in the panel gaps and slowly peel the plasti dip off, it's very addictive and I considered spraying my wheels with it for fun!!

EDIT: I paid about £12 per can of plain black plasti dip and needed two which ran out.

Might give it a go see how it turns out, don't know how many cans to get though....want to do my spoiler, mirror caps, badges and front splitter...any ideas?

You will need at least 4-5 cans to do a good few coats of all those parts. Could get away with less but it's likely to damage a lot easier, and be a pain in the neck to remove.

Awesome, thanks buddy. I think I'd like to run between 3-5 layers on each to help durability (in theory at least)

Remember the more layers you put on the stronger it is and easier it is to remove ;)

I would suggest 5 layers from experience of cocking plasti dip up with it being too thin and not left long enough to dry between coats

Watch the dip your car videos on YouTube for hints as that guy seems to know what he's doing.
