How many would be interested if an airfield landing strip was rented for the day and the costs were divided among participants?

sounds good to me! I'd be up for that (as always, depends on location)

Just to let you know
For this meet to happen on an airfield or circuit then the 3rd party liability would cost thousands
And if no insurance was purchased then the organisers would be liable
I have no problem if someone wants to organise this but I would not be able to help
Remember last year with the fireworks display
Wind changed and smoke went across the road, massive accident happened and now the organiser is in jail
Don't want to sound harsh but it would only take 1 accident

Whilst fully accepting the difficulties and hurdles to overcome when trying to arrange any event open to the general public, the information provided by 'madmax' is NOT correct. The tragedy near Junction 25 of the M5 Motorway following a multi-vehicle collision in heavy fog/smoke DID NOT result in anyone going to jail. Yes, it is correct that following a lengthy Police investigation the CPS did consider charging the organiser of a nearby fireworks display for manslaughter, but this action was dropped.......just saying.

I think that's a bit negative as well. The usual way of doing this sort of thing, is to piggy back off a track day organiser. You have to guarantee the cost of hire (as you would if you hired an airfield yourself), but they would then organise everything, have the correct liability insurance and liability forms to be completed.

I know people have done this in the past with Javelin, who run both track driving and standing 1/4 mile or standing mile events, and have all of the necessary gear and training that would be required.

One place needs to get back to me but it seems they might include such things in the cost

Expanding on the piggyback idea, could you not go somewhere such as Santa Pod which also gives the option for people to run the strip if the date is chosen correctly. Plus all the hospitality that is already there on offer...

Seems the easiest solution.

I'm sure it won't be too hard to arrange a Renaultsport meet/event with Santa Pod.
