I've just ordered a new twingo rs and have decided to pay for the Panaramic sunroof. The dealer advised me that this would affect the handling but has anyone got any experience of this? I'm not a "hard core" racer just enjoy a blast on the way to work. Should I go back tomorrow and try cancelling the sunroof or are the affects hardly noticeable?

You won't notice unless you're on a racetrack! Its just the dealer talking rubbish, ignore him.

A lot of people will suggest the CUP suspension which has stiffer shocks and is about 4mm lower but, it handles abit better if you enjoy pushing your car to its limits.

I use to have a panoramic roof on my GT, it was amazing when I didn't get a burnt forehead! It's also a very very very rare extra to see on an RS.

It's good to hear from someone who's has actually experienced this and has put my mind at rest. I saw a old shaped twingo sport with the sunroof and I fell in love and knew that I needed it on my new car

i have one on my gt as well very good in the summer for cruising around. i got sun burnt last summer on my forehead as well

Dealer spouting rubbish again IMO! Unless you were stripping it out and making it a hardcore track car then I highly doubt it would affect anything.

Wish my 133 had the panoramic roof :(

Great car you've order there mate, would you mind telling me how long you've been given before its delivered? Did you get 4yr deal? Did they give you much of a discount?

I only ask as I'm looking to order one at the end of the year, cheers.

Welcome to the madhouse. Enjoy your stay :D
Sunroof would be cool but the mesh bit that pops up is a good fly swatter so good luck cleaning it.

Still waiting for a delivery date only ordered it 2 days ago can't wait!! Yeah I've got that 4 year warranty, finance, roadside assistance and something else. The salesman said "oh we've chucked in a little bit of discount there for you" but I don't really think there much although I know there's £500 dealer deposit contribution

Thanks mate, I've pm'd you a couple further questions! Hope you don't mind?

Just been told my car could take as long as the start of August to be delivered!!! Don't know whether to wait or look elsewhere seeing as that's almost 4 months :/ Neeeed a twingo in my life :D

It'll sharp pass mate, I waited 7 months for my 250! It might come earlier of course.

Hopefully. He said its all because of this sunroof :/ surely it takes no longer to fit one to a car as it goes down the production line than any other that goes down the production line with it

Hmmm! I suppose the pressing for the roof panel would be a completely different part and the rest of the body can't be assembled without it, I'm sure it would be worth the wait if its really what you set your heart on!

In theory the dealer is correct, it compromises the structural stiffness of the chassis, this is why no RS clios have a sunroof, and if you fit a set of stiff coilovers on a non RS clio with a sunroof and drive it hard, the roof starts to buckle around the sunroof.

in practice though as far as handling goes, you wont notice a difference unless you drive both back to back at length. The leccy sunroof is a lot heavier, but again not enough to notice a difference.

a point worth noting, mine rattles like mad, be interested to see if this is common or just a fault with mine? its got much worse now the car is on Coilovers.

The car first has to be painted before it goes down the production line. So your car is your car from the very first moment it would have to be made with the cut out in the roof. I'm guessing its put on the line after the roof is fitted. The glass roof is fitted then placed back on the line I'm guessing if all the cars had to wait for this to be done to one car it would waste a lot of time.

I personally didn't want a sunroof as I can live without one and in my opinion it dosent really suit the car. Its not really in keeping with the car. With its cheeky looks and smart handling. I've never liked them as you always get problems with holes. They always seem to leak or creak. A problem I can do without.

I know you live local to my work as you've spotted my car around. I can take you out in if you want and I can go through some things I've noticed. You can make your mind up if you want to wait or look for a new car. Offers there if you want..

I've got it now had it 3 weeks and I love it :) I had a creak in the car somewhere in the first week which I was hoping wasn't the sunroof already but seems to have sorted itself out now. Thanks for the offer anyway

Awesome mate I bet the sunroof is coming in handy at the moment! Besides for resale value a 133 with a sunroof is a rare thing so probably be worth a little more :)

You can find 197's with sunroofs :p rare but they do exist.

I think the black sunroof with all the black bits on the car and the contrasting white paint looks the business and yes in this weather it is a great extra to have! Also managed to get a free cup chassis as I added it on after placing my original order and my monthly payments have not even changed so they must have forgot. Will say though that passengers in the back end up constantly hitting their head on the roof as it bounces along (which actually makes speed bumps fun)
