got these yesterday with a set of bridgestone 205 x 40 x 17'' run flats, the ride is absolute superb i've never had run flats before!!!! i've also booked in the GT to have its front crossmember sort of thangg' (you know, above the front reg plate ) to be painted black aswell as the reg recess on the back bumper and the GT spoiler to match in black which will be done next friday. I'm also hunting down a 172 engine, got my eye on this one fellas

Told by co - workers that it'll be a super tight fit, but just about managable. who's dreading hearing how much my insurance goes up by? closest guess, go! pictures next week

Those wheels are certainly different to the usual ones.

Runflats are an unusual choice as well, being as they couldn't be used as runflats unless theres the extended hump to retain the bead once the tyre is deflated.

I can't wait to see how many horses this new build has...

First thing my sisters boyfriend did on his 335i was change them and he said it was a different car.

His M3 didn't have that problem. Only the issue of 2 new v8's and 3 replacement ecu's

we had runflats on a bmw 116i, bloody awful, was far better without.

do think a suspension setup needs to be taylored for runflats.

And people stop buying Msport kits on 116is and pretending it's an m3 cos it isn't!

I heard from a BMW tech their adaptive suspension simply makes it feel hard and does nothing but a placebo in terms of handling, and gets progressively softer after being pressed and only the m cars get properly sorted. All I know is my grandparents run a 123d m sport and it's badged an m and he tells me how the suspension set up is amazing and although firm quite compliant, whilst I felt it ruined a nice car!

Well.....you start with 172bhp engine, brush your teeth - that gives you an extra 5hp, sh!t shower and shave gives you an extra 20hp, fill up on a nice cool morning - at least an extra 10hp, and 12hp if you've just had a haircut.

Magnex exhaust at least 25hp, 30hp for an induction kit.

....and thats before cams and throttle bodies ;)

Don't forget them wheels.... Halfords special guarantees 50 horses extra

I think you two are missing the fact that the engine has done over 100k, so will be nice and loose. Coupled with a re-map, it should go like a bomb. :)

Just do it yourself with a wrap - much cheaper - save the money to upgrade that ropey 172 engine.

Love the wheels! Love the car!

Loving your project, sounds like a racing car!

Go for the 172 lump surely u can squeeze 300 bhp out of it with a few stickers and one of your special maps. Or bolt a turbo on it'll be faster than a veyron!

that's okay, i've sourced the clio 200 engine from a local scrapyard and now i'm spending today measuring to see if the auxiliary components will house i know for certain the bulkhead will need modified to house the slightly taller trans train and certainly a bit of fabrication to house the shifter variating positions. done 13,500 miles comes with the ECU, alternator, gearbox, manifolds and injection systems amidst other things... £1200 mates rates. i took every sticker off my car, because it looked attrocious. had the crossmember done gloss black, the spoiler too, front and rear lights smoked, twingo debadge, renault diamonds gloss black, back bumper reg recess gloss black. next to be done is the bonnet gloss black and the the wheels black by the end of summer.
