I have just joined, and would appreciate anyones help regarding a solution to removing my locking wheel nuts from a SCENIC.2003.
I have tried the alternatives, including rip off garages, for some advice, and hoping to find someone local to me in derby who may be able to help.
I'm an OAP (but look like a child ) and think the heart cant take much more.
The lockers are genuine, only just bought car,got box but no stickers.
Renault told me 'tough'.
A local garage said smash an undersize socket onto it,and hope.
My local vicar said he would perform last rites,no prob.

So if any one can help, however small,I am eternally gratefull.

I thought renault themselves would keep a master set so they can match it up and get a new key ordered? I might be wrong though.

If push comes to shove I believe the brute force approach is to weld a bar onto the centre of the locking nut and get it off that way :) and then simply replace the locking nut with a normal one or if you can find a locking set with a key, even better!

Yep. Whenever I've spoken to actual Renault garage about this - that's what they've done. They've hada stock of them and found which was right.

thanks for the replies.i spoke to two Renault garages and both said they couldn't help as the lockers for my year are not made anymore, and so it was with regret they couldn't help.will certainly consider the weld approach, plus seen a drilled removal version,on you tube.

Each car doesn't have a unique set there are a certain number of sets used on all of them.

Renault should be able to provide you a new key from your number plate.

Don't believe they would stop making them and even if they did they're not made to order and should be bail able next day from Renault directly.

Phone another... My key cost roughly £20.

I can't believe within 10 years they don't continue to stock a locking key.

For those of us who have lost ours, the number should be in the back of the service manual (I can't remember the format though, just many numbers a 1 or 2 letters iirc) and you should simply approach a parts desk and ask them to order that particular key.

I didn't give Renault my reg, although they always insist on having one to find parts, even with a part number given to them. Only Karl seems to be able to find parts without one

If you don't have the part number they will find it from the reg.

Probably stealing your customer details and keeping tabs on you

Oh. And to add: I can't believe they don't still make them 10 years on, this Is Renault, a company that continues to use the same stalks, light buttons, mirror controls and window buttons 20 years on...
