Anybody got any experience of Nology spark plugs? In a GT its normally NGK ILKAR7A7, the Nology plugs use silver, supposed to be the best conductor. Dont want to waste cash if there not going to be compatible.

most monstrous motorsport builds use iridium / platinum spark plugs still and for good reason. silver is a superior conductor of electricity to iridium and platinum, but silver also melts are 960°C. the usual temperatures in a cylinder are 1650-2750°C. although it's got a fantastic thermal conductivity, there's only so much heat something can conduct before it melts after all if something was that good at thermal conductiion then it would never melt. NGK for example have tried and tested silver plugs and found that there was no reason to use them, the better spark in no way whatsoever and suffered catastrophic failure on thermal shock load (high revving, highly tuned engines melted the electrodes) at full throttle. iridium has a low resistance and it's bloody hard, platinum is a good conductor of electricity although not fantastic. that said and done, i can't recall any big power builds such as the hulk gtr etc that used silver. they all used uprated (colder) NGK iridium lasers.

for your reference, from factory ... a few cars that use NGK are the Nissan R35 GTR, Ferrari 458 italia / speciale. pretty much any motorsport car uses iridium / platinum. it's all down to the high melting points, tensile strength of iridium, low resistance, good thermal conductivity, good electrical conductivity, longevity and iridium is known as the metal that just never corrodes!.

i'd stick with NGK lol, they're the worlds OEM spark plug near enough for a reason! :p

Lots of spark plugs have a resistor built into them (GT and 133 included. See the R in the middle of the part number) . Not much point in getting the best conductor, only to add a resistor into the circuit :?
