Anyone got or used one of the Bluetooth obd readers/scanners that are on eBay was thinking of getting one to reset my service light when I next do a service.

Resetting the service interval is just pressing a button, no need for a reader
Ok Neil so how do I do this? The spanner light is also on.

Press the button until it displays the mileage to the next service and hold. Job done.

I use one like this....

i use app software called "torque pro" which cost me about £3 of the Android Market. it can be used to get fault codes and erase old faults which in turn puts out the engine management light.
one thing to bare in mind is that the bluetooth adapter does not work with iphones but a wifi one will and both work on Android phones.

its one of the best things iv ever bought iv used it to fix a few of my mates cars in the past.

It was one like this I was looking at as I have a few different cars so could be usefully to me.

Spanner light will be on if the miles to service is zero.

As Maggi says, press the button on the end of the right hand stalk untill you get to the miles till service. Then, press and hold for a few seconds and it will reset

iv used it on the twingo a vauxhall, ford, honda and a kia so far all works flawlessly. I would recommend the torque app as its so useful. you can even set up dials and gauges on the phone so I can get alsorts of info.
oil temp
intake temp
torque at the wheel
volts
boost
water temp
exhaust gas temp

I have this too, not really used it other than having a play around. Scangauge2 will be getting fitted in replacement for the radio display in a few weeks

for £14 you cant go wrong, a garage will charge you £30 to scan your ecu once and now we can do it as many times and to as many cars as you like!!

even if you use it once in a blue moon you would of saved money. helps you get straight to the source of any car problem saving you **** loads of time and money spent on parts you might not of even needed

Just ordered same as what u have Mike so should be good as should work on our fleet of pumas too.

it will work an any car after 2001 I think, the older cars had obd1 but cars after that year have obd2.

this would only give you electrical faults and most of the time they cannot be relied upon in terms of diagnosing the route of the problem that is mechanical for example the biggest mind bender is when it throws up oxygen sensor faults yet there isn't anything wrong with the sensor which means for that code, there could be upto 20 different things down the line causing the sensor code to be thrown up in the ignition / fueling area. all it does is points to the general area of the fault, giving you a starting point to get your nose dirty hunting down the problem. this should save you a lot of money over the years and on cars down the line, where a fault develops you can give them the fault codes yourself and save yourself 30 pounds a time well worth it
