I have a 1.6 rs and have an oil leak. I cant quite work out where the oil is coming from, but it must be hitting the exhaust somewhere as im getting white smoke from the engine bay when stationary.

The oil level is not really going down much at all though, so it must be a small leak and the amount of smoke just very disproportionate to the oil loss.

It seems to be from the cambelt side of the engine, but the sump itself is wet and the driveshaft. So its hard to say if the driveshaft is just covering everything.

My initial thought was the rocker gasket. Unless someone knows of a common leak on these cars. The car has only done 24,000 miles.

definitely oil. However the oil and water havent moved at all. i have just changed the oil, so monitoring it to see if it drops.

Im hoping its something as simple as the rocker gasket but im gonna take a guess and say its going to be a cam gasket or something expensive.

Its such a small leak i would leave it normally till the weather cools down, but as its hitting something hot and burning off, sitting in traffic with some smoke coming from the bay, you just look ridiculous!

got a picture of the leak? we can't really guess without a visual. engines are pretty large creatures even these renault scenic engines....sorry twingo rs engines ;)

Working down
Crank case breather pipe, where it connects to the upper manifold.
Crank case breathe seal between upper mani and top cover.l.... have you had the mani off and lost this?
Top cover gasket seal.
Loose bolts for cam cover.
Cam cover liquid gasket seal

Ok so at the top of the block on the left at the front by the filler, there appears to be oil from the rocker gasket?

Then below it you can see there is a trace of oil...

However the smoke appears to be coming from the back of the block. But i cannot see the rocker join at the back to see if there is oil there too. However the driveshaft has oil on it, so im assuming this could just be spitting oil back up onto the heatshield on the bulkhead and burning off there.....

Had a 133 with sort of the same problem. Oil across rocker cover. Turned out to be a loose bolt in the rocker cover near oil filler cap.
