Hi all,

a doubt has just crossed my mind.

If i were to fit slicks to my rs could i end up having oil starvation issues during cornering?

I've done several track days with the contis and then the vredestien and never had an issue. Anybody had this kind of problem with semi slicks or know of anyone using slicks?

cheers

Anthonys (Yotah) car has survived a lot of punishment on R888 rubber, decent suspension and very good brakes.

Maybe not the outright grip available on slicks when hot, so I'm not sure

well, i have stock SPORT suspension and stock brakes that have never failed me before.....might add just a drop of oil to be on the safe side, just enough to cover the top line of the cross-hatched area. No banking where i'm going either.

i was looking at the R2 parts to see if there are additional baffles or if its dry sump but as far as i can see that part of the engine is the same...apart form the oil pump...or have i missed something?

I wouldn't worry about it unless your running full on slicks and competing competitively.
oh, but I would be. the tyres are slicks from the euro radical masters championship...last time i went to a track day i fitted them but 5 min prior to the session it started raining so still need to try these tyres on track. Tested them on the road and the amount of grip is silly.... really.....

Not needed if the car is still used on road with only a handful of track days, the twingo is a good car bu its not THAT good to NEED one.

thought not but was wondering if anyone had actually tried/destroyed an engine before wrecking mine and then finding out it was common knowledge.

Thanks all, will let you know how they go on the track.....if anyone interested might be able get a couple of sets for reasonable price :)

i'd be sure that the R2 will be a wet sump set up due to the requirement of an extra two oil pumps (oil + lift pump) plus an oil resovoir in the already tight engine bay would make things a little bit tricky / impossible to add on aux drive pumps in the given space down at the belt side of the engine. surely the sump has swirl baffles in it though and if not you could buy a new sump and have baffles welded in to it to stop the oil sloshing from side to side on hard cornering? :)

I hope it was a private road?
italian road
Some say, that when you drive past the cops in Italie at 200 mph they'll say "Not bad".

indeed!! was stopped several times in my classic 72 innocenti mini (slightly spiced up) and all i got was their approval on how good it looked and how "classic" (read loud) it sounded

what makes it even more absurd is that in Italy you are not legally allowed to change one iota on the car, including tyre or rim size,

Not relevant to his circumstances.

You're comparing a Clio that from the sounds if it is a full on racecar and not a road car running full slicks.

i've read into that too on CS.net, the slicks seem to have incredible grip. it wouldn't matter though on the cars power within reason, the lateral g-forces when cornering will slosh the oil around like mad inside of any cars sump if it was running those very same slick tyres!
i would deffinately look into a new sump. even second hand will do, deep clean it and weld in some baffle plates if you really want a baffled sump ... i mean what's the difference really?
