So.... I've been thinking around this problem I have with buying a HD (cam)camera.

I've been doing some research and apparently Canon (maybe others) have opened the door in the last 18 months or so to real recording of video HD footage on their DSLR's.

The advantage with this is obviously much greater lens availability and with real time 1080x1920 HD video recording.

Has anyone got any experience with these? Or seen them in action other than the 'net videos doing the rounds. Some of the footage I've seen shot is unbelievable but if you think about it (well to me anyway) there's no reason why a DLSR shaped camera should give any worse results than a camcorder shaped camera. It's all in the sensor size/number and lens quality.

Matt definitely be interested in your opinion!

First of all, I've not kept myself upto date with all of this so take with a pinch of salt..

Canon were the first to introduce video to their DSLR's but it had limitations (small recording size, manual focus, etc). Nikon got into it a little more and offered longer recording times (though still only about 10 mins IIRC?) and also autofocus which made the huge difference. The most entry level camera they offer with this functionality is the D3100 but this again has limitations being an entry level (built-in mic with no jacks for external being the main one!).

As I said, I've not kept myself up to date so Canon could well be ahead of the game by now...!

Sorry for the rushed reply, meant to be working!
