Hi all, as some of you may know I'm returning my GT back to standard and selling up, I'm thinking of this as a next car and wondering if anyone has had any experiences with them?

Also like the scirocco tdi as theyre goid looking inside and out imo but they do cost quite a bit so that's a little longer to save, any other ideas? Had to be a diesel!

Whilst I'm not massive on them, I am aware you need to be careful which engine you go for with VAG diesels, particularly depending on your driving style.

Not keen on the meganes with the big bums! Don't think I'd keep it long enough.

Do you mean the DPF getting blocked? My normal commute is 13miles one way with the majority being dual carriageway driving, other than that I'm not sure on any common problems

How about the megane gt diesel?

I like the Scirocco's, but they are quite pricey. Octavia vrs TDI?

I was told that dependent on engine code they can all suffer various problems and there's one or two to positively avoid. No idea which these are, or why

Lots of people have them though, and of course not all have issues, and I can't provide much more than that. It's the same as any car though, do your research thoroughly first.
A friend recently chopped his 2.0 tdi summin-or-other a4 for a newer a4 and for a smaller turbo petrol and said he's done with diesel from now on

This lot kind of sums up the metits of the VAG 1.9 and 2.0 diesel engines.

It says a lot that the 1.9Tdi PD was going to be replaced by the 2.0Tdi PD way back around 2003. Yet the 1.9 is still going whilst the 2.0 PD is now being replaced by the 2.0 CR.
My old A3 was a 1.9 Tdi 130 sport, which can easiy be remapped to around 150-160. Generaly prety bomb proof and reasonably good on fuel at around 48mpg long term average (1 year 18,000 miles) no matter how hard you occasionaly drive it, or 55+mpg if your on an economy run.
