So I need rear brakes for the car
Garage has quoted me 150 plus vat for pads discs etc and labour for fitting pagid discs and pads.
The garage says they have never had any problems they are a direct replacement.
Now in the past I've bought non renault parts and have found them to not be up to the job.
Are these worth it or should I ask them for a price on genuine renault parts.

Also worth noting I occasionally do track days my car is completely standard and I drive like im an escaped rapist on the road...

That completely depends on the compound. Pagid make many OEM pads with soft compounds , but they also do some extreme ones but I don't think they are in 133 shaped pads :( they are also over £150 for just the pads

Carbon lorraine pads can take a complete battering (think yotah) whilst the other options would be a compromise as fast road/light track. Ferrodo DS2500 are good as a fast road pad, but i don't think they are up to loads and loads of continous laps at a track day without a rest to allow them to cool down a bit.

Cooling ducts and hoses would help a lot.

DIY using Brembo HC discs from Kam Racing and use the labour money for some pads more suited to your needs :) Theres a reasonable how to guide here somewhere :)

These are about 90 discs and 15 ish pads.
I find the oem set up is fine on track just get hot quick but thats no bad thing as it makes me come on and cool down.
What I mean to say is that for normal use are they fine or am I better off playing it safe and just sticking with genuine renault?

Also im using standard renault up front too.
Assumprion being the mother of all F ups, I thought you were originaly on about the fronts :?

When new and working well, the standard setup is prety much spot on :) It gets expensive to go better pad wise and, at £15 those may not be an improvement

Oh im not looking to improve im looking at matching thebstandard setup but cheaper lol
The garage owner told me he would fit these to his car. So he rates them as being as good as the renault ones but about 70 all in cheaper...

For the price, just get the brembo rear discs and brembo rear pads and do it yourself

Well im trusting the garage on this one so looks like im going to be a test mule for these.
Saying that rear brakes don't do a great deal so not sure im even going to notice a difference tbh.
Also on track I only do about 10 laps at a time anyway as I notice the bay gets very hot (standard car)
So not a big deal if they aren't carbon max brembo high spec 8pot badanglies lol

These aren't bedded in yet but seem to be good. Definately consider these if you are looking for standard parts.

Pagid brakes are good. Its what Bmw, Mercedes, Porsche and I think most German manufacturers put on there cars from the factory. I'm pretty sure PSA use them too, it wouldn't really surprise me if Renault use them as a supplier as well.

Thats good to hear. They are a lot cheaper than genuine renault too so maybe this forum needs a recommended parts thread or sticky or something as then people will know what to get in future.

Also the pads and brakes look good. Even the pads are shiny black with white 'pagid' writing on. They look good. Littlentouches like that are nice imo
