Hi Guys just joined.

I have had recently had an amazing offer - well I think it is, but want to have this confirmed which is why I'm writing here.

Story is that earlier this year my great uncle bought a brand new 2011 plate Twingo 'Gordini', it's black in colour and had pretty much every optional extra ticked - alloys, etc.

In the last few weeks my Uncle unfortunatley kicked the bucket, he had been ill for a couple of years, he was so ill this year that he was only able to drive the car like, once.

The car has been passed to his son (my cousin or something) who is a complete dimwit, does not care about the value of anything - he has inherited a lot of money, and well the bottom line is, I've been offered the car for only £6,000.

The twingo has only 186 miles on the clock, is bound to still have some warranty but wanted to check with you guys what the 'Gordini' name means, and is this the highest spec model? if not what is? Also should mention it's a 133, I think that means power, but again need this confirming - I know nothing about these cars but I think this could be an un-missable offer?

I should also say that this cousin has had the chance to sell car himself, but literally cannot be arsed in his own words,

Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry to hear about your Uncle! As long as everything is ok with the car, that is an incredibly good price for a Twingo RS Gordini, so I'd recommend going for it!

This is Gordini

Its a limited edition only 200 made in the UK

Welcome! :)

Sounds like a wicked deal for a Gordini! I'd snap it up if the car is in good shape :)

Welcome.

As with the others, sorry to hear about your uncle.

You're correct in that the gordini is the top spec twingo, and as Karl pointed out they're a limited edition too.

The 133 is the power yes. This would mean it's the renaultsport version with the tuned chassis etc if this is the case. (there were two versions, one based on the TCE 100 with the GT chassis, and one based on the RenaultSport 133, with the RS chassis etc).
£6K for this would be an incredibly cheap deal if the car's all in good condition. The cheapest ones on autotrader are ~£10K. I'm presume it's a little something like this one (with different age/mileage obviously)

Here's the link to the Gordini Twingo bits on the renault site

Thanks for your comments,

Ive just realised I sound incredibly selfish earlier, so I will take the time to say a little about my Uncle rather than just talking about the car, I didn't know him brilliantly well, other than him coming over for christmas dinner and occasional birthday, but always got on with him whenever he was there, and we shared an interest in cars and bikes. He actually used to race Norton bike's competetively in the 50's, so a pretty interesting guy really.

Everyone thought it was ridiculous when he decided to buy the twingo earlier this year, as his state of health was not good - but so what? if he had the money and wanted to do it why not? He got a bollocking off the doctor for smoking a roly next to his oxygen tank, which I thought was pretty funny (not so if he had blown half the cul-de-sac up though?!)

Anyway, that's a small bit about him, I do appreciate I've been pretty lucky with the approach of this offer.

Thanks for your comments guys, I'm not a renault fan, I've come from the Jap-side having had an RX-7 recenlty, but maybe I could be converted..,

What you need to do is go take the Twingo out for a drive and see how much you enjoy it. Then that will make you buy it for sure.

+1 I was going to say exactly that!

Before buying my 133 I drove lots of other things including RX-8's (Not quite in the same league as the 7 I know, but still pretty awesome) and just found the 133 more 'fun'. Plus with the running cost savings over things like that it's a steal

Yeh I've had a lot of "tw@s" lecture me on how my car is crap, slow, pathetic etc. Then I can go out, rag my car and get somewhere just as quick as them on a back road blast typically, spend far less on fuel and petrol and have a massive grin from ear to ear at the end of it. TBH THere's not many cars that balance power/affordability quite as well. The fact the chassis out shines the engine too... very rewarding linking a few nice corners up together. I drove the whole way back from silverstone without a single motorway I enjoy it that much

For that price too... it's a steal. Go for it I say!

Even I you buy it just to sell it it'd be worth it. Easy profit there...

+ 1

To be honest it's an awesome car, buy it and then if you don't like sell on.

It's a shame the circumstances aren't a little better, but that is a very good offer unless the little milage has been very rough.

The vast majority of the two hundred RS133 Gordinis released in the UK appear to be in Malta Blue. So, I'm guessing a Black one will be quite rare. Certainly worth consideration and a good test drive at least :)
