i know whats happening with Egypt, but the old man works in Libya and my mum rang to ask have i heard from him. didnt realise that theres problems over there.
anyone been watching the news and can fill me in?
looks like coms links have been cut and havent heard back from in about 3 days, i thought it was due to sandstorms they've been having. news on internet bit of information overload

I havent watched the news but when cleaning my car there was something on the radio news to do with suvillians gone crazy shooting people and the death rate was growing. Also there was a doctor on there from Libya saying its stupid people have gone mad!

Orb im sure your dad is fine from what i worked out there just killing other Libs

hes right bang in the desert so should be fine, just his health isnt too good so being shipped home early but hoping this stuff dies down so he can fly home, only airport is right bang where all this stuff is going on. plus we ment to be hitting local track as well damn it . lol

seems BP is pulling out all staff before the soldiers go in. fingers crossed old mans company does the same.

finally heard from the old man. fine in the desert, gun fire around and plenty of whiskey to last lol

I was listening to Radio 1 tonight about that on my way home from work. They're targeting anyone and everyone apparently, but if he's in the desert he should be okay.

glad youve heard from him. im sure he will know how to keep him self safe, keep your chin up

closed the airport now i believe so he'll be stuck there, hopefully not to long. only so much you can do out there with no internet before boredom kicks in

Surely they can't have cut off telephone landlines though? If he has access to one of those and you happen to know its number just dial that, put your mind at rest anyway :)

wire and wireless were cut off for points at time, conti cables run from euro to capital and they can cut them form there. using sat phone for him to get ahold of us which is lucky

if anyone happens to hear what oil field was raided on news etc could you post it on here, havent found out yet and will be nipping out for a bit. found out the old man is in field 103A.
FO are useless, sending two planes for 3k plus people, jokes :(

my sis will be passing me links in support of aid in getting the last britons left out there with no plans by the FO to get them out. would be great to have your support :)

https://email.number10.gov.uk/Contact.aspx

brother is preparing standard e-mail to mass send but if you can take 5 and send e-mail telling them to get there arses in gear would be great

"I am writing to you in support of the request to evacuate the British Citizens from the desert camps in Libya.
These people are able to be reached yet have received no contact from the Foreign Office, it is left to friends and family.
This is unacceptable and I feel they have been abandoned by your Government
I request that the governm...ent intervenes and sends aircraft to the desert camps to evacuate them"

Im probably going to be hated for this but let me start by saying it is tragic what is happening over there and alot of blood will be shed....however...

The british citizens who are living and working over there and making a pretty penny and are paying NO british tax....so they are not paying into the tight pot of money in which they feel should be dipped into to help them......it was their choice to leave the UK and its tax system.....The grass is always greener.... I don't feel we should help people who don't pay tax in this country... this applies to the benefit system too... i think we should scrap all benefits and stop all these benefit cheats it makes me sick

like i said, i did not write this to offend im just saying how i and many people ive spoken to about it feel.

All the best for your old man Orb and i have sent the email as requested.

cheers dude.

yes tax dodging is quite a treat for them, but council still gets him lol.
whilst he maybe classed as a non resident he has fought for britain with stories that will never see the light of day , nursed on the nhs and policed when armed police never existed.
most of them are old and would have paid taxes most UK Residents would never pay in a life time. and he brings new things for the twingo too :D lol

but again cheers for support. he dbetter bring the damn scoop back with him!

NO british tax....
That's probably untrue for most of the overseas workers. Remaining non resident is a pain in the  if you don't fancy emigrating. Of the ones that emigrate, many will do a few years then return back to the UK and spend the money which obviously incurs VAT etc...

There will be many employees who spend a month or two at a time abroad (like myself), but don't fancy having only 91 days at home per year to go non resident. So it costs me in UK income tax, plus the usual UK taxes whilst I'm home for things I'm not using 6 or 7 months of the year.

Plus, as Orb mentions, many working abroad are ex military and have already defended the UK's interests in the nicer parts of the planet!

Orb. Hope the scoop arrived home safely
