Anyone else interested in R/C cars? I got into it yeeaaars ago from my older bros but due to the age difference I was just getting into them as they were getting bored of them. I went to a couple of shows/exhibitions and got hooked... Have built a fair few kits but they are all long gone now :(

Last summer a mate decided he was going to buy a new nitro car so I found my old TT truck, bought a chassis from eBay and built a new on-road car with the intention of 'drifting' it.

Anyway... was just thinking about it as I never actually used it after building it and now that the weather is getting better I might finish the little project and go make some noise! :)

Ps. if anyone knows where I can get a clear RX7 shell then that would be much appreciated!

I always had most fun driving RC cars in winter. Never got round to buying a proper kit, (though did see some proper amazing f1 replica ones getting raced) so just had a high power electric Evo. Rather enjoyed sliding it around on ice/snow patches in the winter :D

I was hooked on them about 2 years ago i had a skyline nitro and a truck nitro. The skyline was fun but just to damn noisey and parts where failing and i couldnt get replacements so that kIlled that one.

The truck just kept crashing it and was costing to much

Still got any Karl?

My mate and I got very competitive at one stage... If either of us upgraded anything, the other would have to upgrade it better :p I think my best was my original Tamiya M03 Mini with brushless motor, ESC, SS bearings, etc etc.. That thing was stupidly quick.

I was well into rc cars when i was 14/15. I use to race offroad 1:8 scales buggys/truggys. Went all over the country racing them, got very competetive.

I always think about getting back into it to fulfill some time, but it was a very expensie hobby. Especially at £30 for a gallon of nitro fuel

Not too expensive once you've got everything setup how you want :)

A gallon lasted over a month between two of us last time IIRC..

Got a Tamiya WRC Tommi Makkinen Scoob from 2001, dont use it much, does about 30 mph, pretty quick.

iv got a big r/c truck thats great for bashing around
iv got a few cars up in the loft somewhere but i always ended up smashing them :(

brushless ftw ! my mate had a petty one and so did i had a 4x4 wat done around 35 and my mate had a touring car that done 40 so i went and got a electric one changed the motor and gearing and it beat his petty car it must ov done at least 45+ it was insain !

I had a nitro Truck at about age ten and my dad trashed it. Dad then brought me a new electric buggy to replace then converted the broken one to electric aswell. Both were pretty quick off road and truck done mental wheelspins. Currently got a 4x4 truck that isn't finished due to cash flow problems (spent on a real car and bike) however hopefully will get it finished soon as I've spent about £500 on it :D

I went to race events though and had a local track near me.

Youd go through about half a gallon of fuel at a race event then the rest just bashing about at the local track.

Its highly expensive. The best servos were £70 each, wheels/tyres £30. Engines would last about 3-4 gallon there about £200 a pop. all depends how much you wer into it. I remember i payed £150 for the transmitter!

got a nitro fx audi a4
a electric rx7 drift car
:)

Always wanted drift car they any fun?
Also surely rc cars is where real car obsessions begin?

I'm re-building my nitro with drift in mind. Counter-steer modifications, weight shifting and gearing for the rear belt (luckily it's in two parts ;)) to ensure the rear wheels spin faster.

I cant remember what the boyfirend did to his truck, I think he re-built it with lighter parts and better glow plug and things, used to be rapid thou :)
