My friend has a pug 106 gti, with a few odds n ends don't (stainless 4-2-1 with decat, cams n raised limiter) and our cars a pretty evenly matched in speed, but tonight I got your typical Chav behind me in a saxo, couldn't tell weather I was a vtr or vts to start with, he was sitting on my bumper so I promptly dropped the twingo a cog and give it the beans... To my surprise I seen the saxo pass me asif I was going backwards :( I seen the little 16v badges that gave it away it was a vts but my god I couldn't believe how fast it went past!!!

Mates got a VTS and it depends on the roads to who gets the edge, but neither by a massive margin, his has 4-2-1 with decat and remap

I haven't got a clue what this vts had in it but it was quick! Like I say mine and my friends gti are even tbh but that thing was unreal... Just hate getting beat by saxos :(

could of been on itb's my mate had a vts on bodies and it was very quick also had full exhaust system and kent rally profile cams adjustable pulleys and quite a few other mods killed most cars on the road :)

Doubt it I've got a mate with a gti only has bmc slightly thinner head gasket and exhaust mani back done leaves me for dead the same gti kept up with my old 197

A car with similar or more power that weighs as much as a paper clip. Course it's gonna be fast. Seems people can get some decent power from them too.

Some even sound good. It's a shame that most of us see a Saxo and groan as we assume its yet another 1.2 with a phat exhaust innit

I used to have a vtr and it was so cheap to mod I.e parts wide and it reacted so good to breather mods I went 4-1 mani and a saxsport exhaust with bmc filter had front strut lowered on springs on front and lowered correctly on back (not clicks) had short shift too was really quick due to weighing feck all sometimes wish I kept it but wanted not more luxury :/

Also don't forget that Saxos have been around for years, there's bound to be plenty of them running big tuning mods.

I remember pulling up alongside a chavvy Corsa in my first 172, I pulled away quickly from the lights. He went past me like I was going backwards. Turns out he was runnign a 2.0 red top on throttle bodies with 250bhp!!!

Also I thougth the VTS in terms of power to weight was more similar to a 172 so not surprised it was quicker to be honest.

I've been here when I had my saxo butte corsa was Redtop turbo I was like wtf!!!!

we used to have a VTS localy. It could easily outdo the Westy which was on R888 and Avo suspension, with 130hp and 500Kg. Bearing in mind my mates 3.2 Carrera and 1.9 gti pug were easy pray for the westy untill getting over the speed limits on a straight bit or road which used to annoy him a bit :)

this VTS was mental for a shopping trolley. And he could drive it well too

VTS' were a match if not quicker than my 1.8 16v clio so i would assume that they would do quite well against a twingo RS.

Always fancied a VTS but was always put off by the chav image, and the fact they sounded nowhere near as good as the clio!

Vts' are but mainly were awesome bits of kit.

Sooo outdated nowadays though the main thing they have going for them is their high rev limit and lack of weight.

Standard 106gti (which I believe are the same as the VTS) was bloody quick at a local twisty track. I'm really not surprised that one would beat a 133.

The 133 is the better place to be in an accident though. :?

Yeah 106 is exactly the same in the same way as a c1 and aygo and whatever peugeot call theirs.

After owning both i would say standard for standard the Twingo would be quicker on most tracks and the 106/saxo quicker on the drag strip.

Twingo has ludicrous grip compared to a 106 gti and its rear is much more stable. The 106 is much more mobile though which is more rewarding but once lost is an ass to get back. Snap oversteer in a Twingo is easy to catch. Thats my opinion though!

The brakes are also 10x better. 106/saxo have 247mm fronts versus 280 on the Twingo.
