I keep on seeing people talking about a recall, I've not really heard anything of this.....
Could someone clue me in please, I'm slightly worried....

Cheers

M

I can't say I've heard of a recall on the Twingo mate so don't worry too much. Do you have any idea what it was for?

What you'll find is that if it's an urgent recall they'll write to you to bring the car in. I remember putting my car in for a service, whilst in they had a recall for all the tyres to be changed so I couldn't have it back until it was done! lol

Also, with a lot of recalls, they'll do it to be on the safe side because a handful of cars had the same issue. Doesn't mean they all will though.

I believe the recall was for wheel/hub bolts? Some have gone in for updated maps to correct kangarooing problems + idle problems too but I think that's only done when asked/if it's notice while Renault have it.

If your car was recalled then you'd have a letter so if you don't I wouldn't worry about it. You could phone Renault UK to be sure?

There were two recalls on earlier 133s. The first was a wheel bolt/hub issue and the second was for something to do with the seat rail/mechanism. If your car was affected you would have got letters detailing each matter.

The kangerooing issue has never been a recall, more an update patch available through dealers if it affected your car.

Depending on the year of the car if it needs the recalls.

Mine needed the wheel bolts but not the seat rail doing.

My local dealership got confused when they tried to do the seat recall on the Recaros. Bless them. lol

i got a letter about a recall for the wheel bolts, took it to my dealer and they said my car wasnt affected. never had one about the seat. i also had an ecu update because my car running horribly when cold

Yeah, was just surprised with lots of people seeming to know about the wheel bolt thing that it's not on the VOSA site.
I was under the impression as well that the ECU update was an 'It's there if you want it' sort of thing rather than an all-out recall?!

(Just noticed this is post 199 :D )

From the VOSA site.

Voluntary Recall System

About UK Automotive Recall System

Recalls to address safety defects in automotive products are launched and monitored under the terms of Codes of Practice formulated from discussions between the Department for Transport and the Trade Associations representing the Motor Manufacturing industry. The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 provide the legal support.

These Codes set out the guidelines and procedures for the recall of vehicles and components that have safety related defects due to a feature of design or construction, and which are liable to cause significant risk of injury to the driver, occupants of the vehicle or other road users.

The first Code was introduced in 1979. There are now three Codes (a link to them is on the website) which cover the following:

• Code of Practice on Vehicle Safety Defects which includes components.

• Code of Practice on action concerning the recall of Tyres, Wheels and Associated parts in the aftermarket.

• Code of Practice for Pedal Cycle Recalls

It is the responsibility of the producer to inform VOSA when substantial evidence of a safety defect that requires remedial action has been confirmed. Additionally, evidence may be presented to the manufacturer by VOSA as a result of investigations into collisions and safety defects which have been brought to their attention from other sources.

If you believe you have experienced a safety defect due to a deficiency in the design or construction of your automotive product, please contact VOSA on 0117 9543300 or complete a report form (a link to which is on the website) or email [email protected] so that we may assess whether or not we can take the matter forward.

I would have expected that wheel-bolts would fall into the VOSA category above?! :?

Perhaps Karl is able to say whether this was an all-out recall, or an available update etc. etc. from the Renault POV?

this was a full blown renault recall but only covered afew twingo's.
