Hi Guys, I'm thinking of swapping my 197 for a Twingo133 (and MX5 for track). I'm just wondering if anyone has fitted the Recaro CS seats from a 197/200 to a Twingo? I have them fitted in my 197 at the moment, so I'm tempted to rip 'em out and stick 'em in the Twingo as I'm not 100% sure I could live without them!! But the Twingo will be for the Mrs I doubt she would go for an aftermarket seat so its the CS or nothing.

Where abouts are you based mate? If you're near to either Bedford or Lincoln then when I finally manage to get hold of my left hand subframe and I take the seat out you could test fit it in my twingo?

I'm guessing it wouldn't be a direct swap as the floorpans will be a different shape... However, saying that, the Twingo seats sit on spacer legs which level out the mounting points where the runners sit. If the 197 uses similar spacers and the runner bolts are in the same place :? :)

there's the airbags to think about too. They will fit but I think you'll need different subframes. On the recaro sportsters aren't the subframes and mounts specific for the seat and car? I'm sure people have had difficulty when trying to put them in clio 182 etc. They would look awesome though :)

quick favour, could you get a photo of how the seat belt buckle fastens to the seat? i don't want to run harnesses as there is no one local who will make my harness bar. I keep getting told they don't want to get involved in that kind of business in case anything comes back to them in an accident. Fair enough like.

I have all the frames, mounts and seats ready to be fitted but the omp subframes dont have a hole to mount the pretensioner.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll get some snaps later on and post them up. :)

I'm from Barsnley. There's a chance I'll be down near bedford at some point, I've got some mates in MK and I pop down there from time to time for track days/How Fast events at Bedford autodrome (with 197.net). If I'm in the area I'll give you a heads up mate.

Apologies for the off topic

Mark I think ktec said they were making a harness bar when I rang up a few months ago they said they were in the final testing stages try giving them a ring and seeing where they are with it :)

Probably no further due to being closed while they relocate to a new site now ;)

Ktec are in the process of it, however I used 2 m10 eyelet bolts to mount my harness and it worked very well, was perfectly safe because the bolts were in the holes that the standard rear seat belts (bench version) bolt into.

Perfectly safe :?

It looks like the buckles need threading properly as you can clearly see the webbing isnt threaded back through.

Also, what angle are the shoulder straps going up. Ideally, the straps want to exit the shoulder slots and run horizontal , so theres no(minimal) compression force on the seat and your spine. The further down you mount them, the angle will increase any compression force.

I don't feel yours is any safer personally, if something impacts the rear quarter of your car your harnesses are either going to slacken or tighten which would render them useless Neil, and yes I agree that horizontal is best but as an "approved" harness bar has not yet been produced (other than the MSE full cage) I decided that was the best way to run them.

Not ideal but acceptable however a proper harness bar will allow you to be in the preferred zone, there hasn't been an "approved" bar made yet but you can read the fia rule book and use a bit of decent judgement to figure out what will do the job I took mine to a guy who builds rollcages and he said the bar I've got is more than suitable and Neil's has an extra spreader plate so his is more secure still

How the adjusters should be threaded.

Yes, I certainly agree that my bar isn't ideal, but it gives better angles for the shoulder straps at the risk of the straps becoming slack if the car is significantly shortened.

Half cage anyone?

Although it looks nice, as Neil said, it's not the safest way.

UPDATE, When I picked the car up they still had their harness bar in it cus they were taking pictures for the website. It's all finished and testing has been done they just need to upload it :)
