How easy is it to remove calipers for painting?

I want to get my front and rear calipers painted but I have never changed anything to do with brakes in my life so was wondering how easy/hard it is to do.

Any detailed guides would be nice or should I just not bother and give my car to a sprayer for a day?

Have you looked in the how to section...

I realise this is a silly question as I know you haven't :p

Tbh if you're brush painting its easy in situ

I was half asleep when posting this..

Guilty as charged!

I was going to spray them but its too much of a faff to remove them so ill just use a brush to paint them on the car, out of interest did you remove the spring when you painted yours?

Some sandpaper, some alcohol (the non-drinkeable one) and some Motip calliper spraycan

-Take wheel off
-Put some old newspaper or plastic on the inside of the wheelarch to make sure you don't paint everything.
- Use the sandpaper and grind it down a little bit
- Use the alcohol to degrease it
- First spray them with white calliper paint ( a few coats)
- When dry, spray them (in my case, red) again with calliper paint and also in a few layers.

Reason why first white and then red is that it makes the red more glossy and stand out more.

Tbh I've been too lazy to do the fronts again

I will probably remove it. But that's mostly because I will be changing pads and discs at some point so thought I would do it all at once.

Once the wheels are back ill probably do it. Deffo before weekend.

If I were doing it in situ, without changing them, I don't think I'd bother. Maybe pull it from sitting flush to get good coverage.
