removing spare wheel

Are you going on track? No? Then removing the wheel will make no diff it'll be a placebo effect.
 
If you want to do this, cheap solution would be getting isolation foam from a hardware store.

First put something like a plastic (trash) bag on the inside, fill up the hole with the foam and use a knife to cut of the top and make it nice and straight so it flats out with your trunk.

Foam has almost no weight.

If you want to place the spare wheel back you can pull it out using the plastic.

Just leave the spare in the whole.
