wow they love there old renaults!!! theres loads of 4's !!!goes to show they last if they dont rot away!!

they seem obsessed with batteries and tie bars

Not sure they're up to much modifying currently though :(

there car laws dont allow them to do too much i think without costing them LOADS

Once a car reaches a certain age it does become VERY expensive for them to run I understand. I would imagine that's why so many 10 year old jap cars are exported here. I think it's about that age they start costing more in tax or something. I understand their version of the MOT is also hugely expensive

What a load of tosh, that statement couldn't be more wrong about a car nation. the Japanese have the best and cheapest tuning outside of the USA.

i didnt say that they didnt have the best cars!!!if fact i own and work on jap cars!!
i also didnt mention how good there tuning stuff is!!iv spend untold amounts on jap stuff!!

i was just saying that the reason that alot of people (espec young drivers)over there dont go mad on tuning them was due to there insurance costs!!
im sure that there insurance is fairly heavy on mods!!

i could b wrong but thats what i think the reason is so no need to start shooting me down, just try reading the reply ;)

since this is about jap bits and bobs, just thought about with whats happened there.
the amount of good cars washed away and of course loss of life :(
wonder if this will lead to a big increase in exporting costs of parts to here in the next few months

No you didn't you mentioned NOTHING about insurance, let alone the young...

Trying digging upwards it works better......

The fact you do have a jap car, makes your reply even more "scary"

This "MOT" that was eluded to to is call the Shaken, happens every 2 years and includes insurance, and isn't "that" expensive, in fact "you" can do it yourself. The only reason it becomes expensive it because of the "repairs" that could be needed to the car to make it pass. and repairs could include simple things like a new tyre, however there are no hidden costs, all are set out and are completely transparent. However there are 60 detailed points you have to check.

EDIT: The shaken costs about £760 to £1500 (remember that;s for 2 years)
