Just noticed that on the RS site, the tech info page for the 133 has dropped the straight up cup model. (Unless my computer is being hugely wappy)

https://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/twingo/specifications/Default.aspx

Dropped them all from the twingo landing page too

https://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/twingohome/Default.aspx

Though they have added an accessories page. Has anyone expressed an interest in chrome mirror covers?

Your not wrong they have gone back to only selling FF 133s but you can still opt for a cup chassis.

Karl posted a sales report a bit back..... However thinking about it it didn't breakdown the model levels.

I guess the Twingo isn't that expensive for what it is, even in 'full fat' guise as lets face it it was more for money saving than weight saving like the Clio 172 and 172 Cup was.

If Renault are cutting down their range they don't stricly need the 133 Cup if you can opt for the Cup pack anyway.

I am always surprised by the low volume of sales with Renaultsport models considering the good press they get. I mean if you look at the Megane 225 Phase I, they only sold 1.320 in total. I don't reckon the Twingo 133 has sold many. The Clio 172/182 seems the most popular and you don't see them around that much either.

its because for entirely unknown reasons british people hate french cars :S

think u need to remove the car bit and for some unknown reason they just hate the french.

we havent been at war with them for centuries :p

When i was buying mine one of the lads at work said " you couldn't have picked a gayer looking car"

to which i replied "I don't care mate, have a blast in that and you'll see how good it is"

For some reason brits still want bigger cars. this is the first small car I have bought and to be honest I struggle to make a case for a larger one. For myself anyway.

The way the car market is going Renault have been very smart dropping models. I work for Peugeot and the range is so dull and boring. Just the same car with a slightly different nose or a bigger boot. Its refreshing for a brand to concentrate on a few rather than many. I drive past Highland Audi every day and it is just the same car over and over again.

For myself its nice to have a bit of individuality. Even if the initial response is "you drive a what?!"

I concur ^

Don't you find though that it's always blokes that have the inferiority issue that they wouldn't drive a Twingo? lol

So many car people I know want POWEEEERRRR and I'm sure they are making up for something because their ego wouldn't allow them to drive a small car, no matter how much fun it is! There was something satisfying about being over 6ft and driving a VW Lupo and the same goes for the Twingo.

Always fancied a sticker that said 'I make up for my small car by having a massive p*nis!'. Just to have a dig at those people who 'need' to have a big car! haha

love it alex.

and yer its all well and good having a big powerful car but where u gonna use it, u will lose license. i would rather have a car that is fun round a roundabout and country lanes then straight line speed.

That is a point I always try and get across.

You take my Megane for example, it's a quick car but you're constantly wary of that because you can't ever use it's full potential without driving like a t*sser. Well certainly not day to day. There are loads of more powerful cars that you see driving through towns and they are wasted to be honest. For a good weekend blast that's different but you don't go for that kind of blast every single day!

The Twingo on the other hand can be used to it's full potential more often. It's amazing round corners, quick off the line and makes a great car to enjoy day to day. You'd be hard pushed to find a car that can raise as many smiles. :)

Agreed in the family used to be an e36 M3 and that was fast for its day and to be honest you couldn't use it because you'd catch people up to quickly or being yellow drew the attention of every traffic officer locally, so my dad drives my car now and then and enjoys it more than the M3
