I was moving the rear seats about today in the Gordini and I looked from inside the car toward the boot.

I could see daylight coming through the bottom of the boot, where the rebate is in the bumper/ and the tailgate release.

The boot seal/rubber looks fine down the sides of the boot but along the bottom it just doesnt seem thick enough the make a proper seal.

Anyone else aware/ experienced this?
I thought I could hear quite a bit of wind/road noise from the back of the car.

Any ideas fellas.
I ought to post a pic up.
I expect everyone elses is the same.....

Just checked mine, no daylight to speak of coming from near the boot latch recess. is that where you meant?

ps the white bit in my picture is a towel to stop my warning triangle scratching the paint :)

I wonder if the RS133 has a different boot /seal type.

I will go out and take a pic.
Mine didnt seem to look like that. Could be wrong.

Is yours push button boot release, the button being the inside of the renault badge?

no, I didn't know there was a different boot release! I like the sound of the Renault badge one though. mine is a little rubber button underneath the boot lid (have to hook your finger into a cut out in the rear bumper)

a 133 could well be different on the inside to my car as mine is near enough bottom of the range :) It may look different as I have covered all the lower metal up with some snazzy (cheap) stick on carpet.

Looks same Tommy.

I noticed yours has a carpet over the ledge. Nice idea, I might just do that to mine.
You will see on mine the big cut outs, I think this is also where road noise comes through.

The finish looks crap around the back of the lights. :?

Does anyone know if there is a thicker seal or can we adjust the boot to close tighter?

Wonder if the catch can be loosened and move back a bit.

ah right! yeah, thats what mine looks like under the stick on carpet. It does reduce the road noise a little bit (well, it takes the sharpness out of it) so perhaps behind my carpet there might be daylight.

the carpet was only a fiver from wilkinsons- its for snooker tables and is with their rolls of stick on vinyl stuff :)

ps nice colour car- i think its the same as mine :)

Search for 'boot striker' and theres some instructions for adjusting the position of the striker which solved the knocking/rattling from the boot lid. Yours may be out of adjustment, hence the gap.

Thanks singlespeed

Much appreciated - I will have a look now.

Tommy, I'll be down at Wilko tomorrow for some of that carpet.
Cheers

ooo a gordini! mine is "extreme blue" so a bit different (still the best colour though - blue)

They also do the carpet in green (for snooker tables i think) not sure if im brave enough to carpet other bits of the car :D

I've adjusted the striker.
After not being able to shut the boot at all and a little trial and error, I managed to get a good secure locking.

Climbed inside the car and looked toward the back of the car and happy to say, no daylight coming through.
The seal seems to be sound, I cant poke my finger through any more.

Still have a little rattle which I am yet to sort out. Thought it might be the boot, but alas its not.
It only seems to be when no-one is sat in the back passenger seat, so I'll test that tomorrow when I take the little lad to school.

I'll take the parcel shelf out/ spare wheel/ etc to try and eliminate them.

That other rattle, may actually be the sliders and mechanisms for the sliding rear seats. As mine does that at the moment.

If you find a fix too that other than driving faster or turining the music up that would be ideal :p

I thought so much yesterday James.

Next plan is to pick up some thin rubber washers to put under the spring loaded locating pins at the rear of the seat where it sits on the floor pan.
Though I think the rattle seems to be the assembly of the seat rail within the runner.

I'll be out with molegrips, pliers and a G-clamp to tighten it up.
Dont worry I will be sure to let you know

Don't go too thick with the rubber as they need to securely clip into the floor. i think it was Dazza that had a seat unclip itself, even without rubber washers or anything. I have used a layer of thin foam, which was a simillar thickness to the foam sticky pads and that helped.

Magic.
Trip to Wilkos this pm. :)

Your right Neil I did have 1 of my back seats play up. They had to put a new seat frame and runner in
