Was coming home today i do about 60 motorway miles per day in a 1.2 turbo and 15 non motorway miles so at the first stop as i came off the motorway to stop at roundabout as i shifted down and got into 2nd and first, a massive metallic grinding squeeley sound which i can only describe as horrible popped outta nowhere. It dissapeared when i went through the gears past 15mph. It vannished untill i got home where i noticed i could feel very small vibrations through the steering wheel which ive ruled out as clutch or gearbox as no problems with engaging gears including neutral no slipping and no pedal vibrations. I did notice it changed pitch as if the suspect part is a rotating part i imagined it was my wheel and i checked for bearing freeplay etc and track rod end play..nothing! Not a noise id heard before, you know in titanic when the ice breaks through the hull and the sound of metal under stress? That noise exactly, was horrible but it vannishes for hours on end then popped up as i got home now its gone lol
