Help, my 2009 gt with just 26k miles has developed a strange noise when first starting in the morning, it screams like a scalded cat for about 3 mins (very embarrasing  ) then stops  Only to repeat the following morning. Bloody groundhog day!! this is my first ever Renualt( probably last). does this always happen to french cars?

Check in the bay I'm sure someone actually found a cat under there Clio before ! I'm not taking this piss either

My first guess would be aux belt as above, my clio did this within two weeks of getting it :-( not the cheapest with new tensioner either. Hope you find out what it is.

my old 106 did this and it was the alternator belt. cost me £4 for a new one. But yea, strange for 26k miles

The aux belt and tensioner for my 1.2tce cost me around £70-80 if I remember correctly :-(

The first one did ;-) had to change it within a couple of weeks of getting it lol

The other new one is going on with the timing belt & water pump as a matter of course...anyways i'll be good & let the peeps get back on topic ;-)

Have you tried using a stethoscope? That's what we used at my work to pin point my screaming noise to belt tensioner. If you haven't got one they are worth it if you're in the trade ;-)

took it to renault after in cardiff, there was a hairline crack in some plastic unit somwhere aparently, cost me 378 quidd but never had no more trouble and had the car back fully valeted :)

£378 I'd expect a damn good valet and a damned good air freshener!

killed mine put a few mods on hold but as i said was worth it the noise got so annoying in the end i was thinking of doin an insurance jobbie, but all is gd now
