Hi all, flaming seagulls up here in Middlesbrough have been walking up and down my roof and caused a fair few surface scratches. They are fairly light and haven't gone as deep as the metal, but where the roof colour is usually black I can now see white scratches, amongst some other scuffs.

After reading some recommendations on Amazon I'm thinking of buying some Farecla G3, but before I do I wondered if anybody's used it before and whether it gets the scratches out?

I've used that and also the Black coloured T-Cut, and yes it does work if you spend enough time polishing at the scratches. You will dull the surface by doing this though as obviously the stuff is abrasive, so don't press stupidly hard. Afterwards you will need to use a light polish on top of the area you have used the G3/T-Cut on to remove the dulling, I usually use AutoGlym Super Resin Polish as it has fillers in it :)

The SRP u can buy from places that comes in a pack, with an applicator pad, and a microfibre cloth for buffing (although the cloth is just a cloth, its the pad you want)

Scratch x isn't quite what megs make out. Strangely, it has a relatively low level of cut compared to various other polishes in their range. #105 then #205 would have better results, and you can buy samples (enough to do a car) from places like elite car care and i4detailing for pennies.

I know it's not great but I had some very fine and light scratches and it worked well on them.

Only one major scratch on my car, but that's gone through the paint so would need the boot respraying as someone decided they'd be a tosser.

By hand any deep scratch will always be difficult to remove though.

One of those machine polishers might do the trick with any product I suppose. Scratches are just a pain, however caused

Magic. What would you recommend to apply the autoglym?

I use a microfibre pad, I bought some Meguairs ones from halfrauds in a pack of 3, then I buff it off with a microfibre cloth :)

Cheers for the advice everybody. Stuff ordered, now to hope for the best! If it doesn't work I'm thinking of a roof respray anyway to orange to match the seatbelts - local sprayer only charges somewhere between £150-£200 all in
