Sat in my local scrapyard, cat d. Wheels gone, engine in tact....windscreens front and rear gone. I am super tempted to do a deal on it, I've been looking for a garaged project for a while now. Luckily he's my friends dad lol so I know I could get it for around 500 but is it worth it? Will need to spend perhaps 2k or 3k on it, complete respray to skyline blue and black, entire brake overhaul, new brake lines, fuel lines, fair bit of bodywork with the rear massive dents and holes, interior looks oldenough to get a free bus pass :( skyline though! Gahhh

There's a lot of systems on a skyline. You really want to go have a full evaluation, as some of them can be very pricey to sort out, even for small issues.

As long as you don't go all barryboys on it why not?

Keep the fast n furious in the films and make something oem+ and it could work nicely

Ah yeah I know drew, they can be nightmares for your wallet. I know it fired up, and nothing seemed very wrong with it internally, although externally it does look as if it has went 12 rounds with iron mike. I may have to give it a much closer look, I know a guy locally who got 1200 brake out an R33 the funny thing about this is his everyday car is an 8v 1litre N reg corsa b ......some folk eh!

M8 u'll need alot more than a few grand i would think. Dells R33 cost him around £400 on just disks and pads. 1 Ball joint was £73... (just the ball joint). He calls it "skyline tax" haha.

My mate is finding out the true cost of owning a jap turbo car - he's just ended up spending 7k on an engine rebuild.

Tbh they don't go wrong often but when they do it's pretty horrific lol

GTR or GTST?
The money in a GTR is mental, RB26DETTs RARELY go wrong on R33s and up (R32s pre 94 were prone to oil starvation at high revs) but when they do go wrong....throw lots of money at them.

GTSTs go for peanuts, paint tends to go on them damn quick but if it's an RB25DET, pretty much bombproof and relatively high brake is achievable.
To be honest, if it's a GTST and you want to throw 2/3K at it, get looking at the Jap import sites - you'd be surprised at how LITTLE they cost. R33s don't hold their money like R32s or R34s - they were in a bad kinda area of heavy but didn't have the extra brake to pull the weight around like the 34.

He could add it to the list of engine builds. Probably
