Solar charger for battery for car

I am out the country for 3-4 months a year and have to leave the car on its own. The last time I disconnected the battery and it alarmed as car was locked apart from bonnet which was open whilst disconecting battery. So I ended up having to leave car unlocked as it still alarmed even without the battery connected??

So my question, can I get a cigarette lighter solar panel charger off ebay that will keep the battery topped up or will our car not support them? My car is stored outside on a military base when I'm away so it is secure but still not a fan of leaving the car unlocked!! Or would it have to be a solar panel direct to battery charger? Thanks
