TOOLS!!!!

Came back to my other halfs Clio this morning to find it had been hit on her works car park the night before (worked out it must have been then as it wasnt done on the drive, and was okay when I dropped it off at work)

A nasty deep scrape on the door - stopped the central locks working (only just got them fixed) as the handle and mech are all out of line :( so gutted as the car is just about back on its feet after having some work done at great expense. anyhu! pics attached

That was how I found it (reported to work and CCTV checked - couldnt get any reg, but I have a good Idea exactly who in town has done it.

I had a quick go at it with a hammer and some filler/ paint. .... not the best job - but we were picking some friends up from the station in hers and she didnt want it looking a state.

ARG!!! small town idiots annoy me :(

BTW - the picture is the first go at it before i sanded down, re applied a final filler and paint layer (couldn't get a picture as my phone died)

absolute bastards. lets hope karma gives them a kicking

any chance of cctv footage?

Someone from my worked keyed my old gt so don't park the rs in there. Had other drivers moanin bout there cars bein hit in there

It is a very tight car park so im not surprised its been hit - but its annoying :(

I have seen the CCTV and it looks like its a big Audi Q7 that gets very close to it - too blury for the reg, but I think i recognise the car as a local one- Might see if i can see it around and leave a note.

Dazza - Thats horrible for your GT! hope you found out who did it!

That sucks. Looks like you're doing a pretty decent job of masking it quickly.

From the height and angular shape of the dent, it looks more likely to be a transit style flat bed as thay have a high back, with an overhang.

A Q7 would probably leave a large dent about the height of the lock before leaving an angular mark that high up :?

Still sucks either way

I have found the Q7 in town and there isn't a scratch on it, and as singlespeed said, its bumper is completely the wrong height and shape.

Talking to my other half and she didn't tell me that she went to the shop on the way home ... Parking next to a renta van (she only noticed it because we have had it before to move house) a luton style van seems to be at the right height. Got to go uo to the company and see who had it that night.

Think I need to have another go at the door - its gone a bit flat. Might just be cheaper to get another door off the internet (found one for 40 pound in the right colour)

Unfortunately without any proof though you're stuck as far as insurance goes. Unless the driver of the van admits responsibility, which is highly unlikely, or the shop has CCTV footage of the incident.

The shop does have cctv - but I'm not sure how long they keep it for. I'm not after money or anything like that - its an old car and looks passable now. As ever in these situations I'm more bothered about manners, an apology goes a long way.

However, from driving that van when we rented it, I know the back end swings out a long way... And you can't really feel when you are nudging stuff (like the kerb in my case haha)
So the driver may well not have realised that they had done it.

Yeah. I suppose you wouldn't. I always avoid parking near large vans in car parks for that reason. Good luck though, I hope whoever it is does pay up.

That said, I parked somewhere the other day and the left wing on my car had scraped along a lampost. Nasty. I didn't feel it at all. Fortunately, it didn't do any damage except took a whole load of black paint off the lampost, but I managed to get it off, fortunately it hadn't damaged the paintwork on the car!

I've told her not to leave it in some of the dodgy places she abandons it, I think she was desperate for a chocolate fix so just dived into a tiny space haha.

Ouch! At least your car isn't harmed! I like that the twingo has plastic wings - so small mistakes only result in a bit of a scuff - not a whacking great dent.

People these days have no respect. It annoys the s**t out of me!

Very true! went up to the rental place and the van has a scratch on the rear loader - I am safe in the knowledge that the tool who did it (they wouldnt give me a name in case I was dodgy) has lost his hefty £250 deposit!!

made me smile all the way home :D
