Got the Xperia Play for almost 2 years and being my first smartphone, I loved it to bits. especially being Playstation certified.

But I'm looking for something a little more serious and flat (because the Xperia Play is quite thick) so my eye fell on the Ion.
Sony's new flagship.

Cheaper than an iPhone and equally as good, if not better actually when comparing them with each other: bigger screen, better camera, better screen resolution but 20 grams heavier and slightly thicker.

Anyone has it?

Is it any good because much like the Galaxy S3, it's quite a big screen and I'm not used to it. Have a friend with an S2 and I thought that phone was massive but the Ion is even bigger.

All I would say is don't just get wrapped up with the tech spec but look into how well they operate.

The iPhone 5 isn't on paper the most powerful phone out there but the OS that controls it makes it a powerful smartphone.

Friend of mine has the Galaxy Note 2 which is a total beast, nice big screen and powerful. Size would put me right off, it's that balance between it being a phone or a small tablet. lol

Have a look on Youtube and see what comparisons you can find mate. There's usually someone who takes the time to run them alongside each other. :)

I have an S3 and it's such a good phone! Having owned an iPhone I much prefer the S3, by far. Bigger device and much more potential by not being hindered with apples way or no way, kinda, attitude. Also, free apps ftw

Agreed, I ditched my iPhone 4 for a Galaxy S2 and then upgraded to a S3 and I will not be going back to IOS devices

It's funny how people sway one way or the other.

Got people at work who have gone from iPhones to Adroid phones but gone back to the iPhone. I guess with the iPhone works exceptionally well with other Apple hardware.

Must admit though the SIII is an impressive bit of kit. :)

Technology nowadays really does need to be taken with a 'each to their own attitude' so many good options but everyone has different tastes!

Yeah abolutely, we've reached a level where it doesn't simply come down to what has the best spec.

With the majority of modern technology there's no such thing as buying a bad phone for example.

Well the Ion doesn't have the best and fastest processor but they say it works fluently and well with the software + the Bravia powered screen looks so crispy.

Think for my birthday I'm going to spoil myself.

Depending on how quickly you're wanting something, you may want to hold back for a little while if you're a sony fan. They're expected to release their new flagship phone (though it probably falls into phablet territory) relatively soon.

It's been dubbed the 'yuga', and it's rumoured/expected specs are

5" 1920x1080 screen
Completely sealed design with glass front & back
Micro SD card, HDMI port, Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
1.5 GHz Quad core processor, and 2 GB ram,

Best.. ringtone.. ever!

I like Sony, but really only use them for calls and texts. I've just changed to a Tipo, which seems to be pretty good for the money.

It's reasonably priced and kind of an underdog compared to the Samsung SIII and iPhone 5.

I like it alot :)
