Hi guys and gals, so after I collected my RS133 last week I've noticed over the weekend that there is no spare tyre in the boot. As its a used car I'd assume it's my fault for not checking it was there (though I'd just assume it was).

I was wondering if anyone knew whether the dealer HAS to provide me with at least a space saver tyre, or whether it's my fault for not checking? The dealer is a Renault-franchised dealer by the way.

If not, any idea as to the exact size and likely cost of an appropriate space saver? Cheers!

Should have come with but as its a second hand possibly not entitled to give you one if it was missing on their receipt.

Check the specs of what they sold and defo query the dealer

As it's just a space saver even in the worst case I don't think it would be that pricey to replace. However it feels a bit cheeky for the dealer to have not sold it with one.

Cheers. Anybody know what the size of the space saver should be, or is it just 'standard'?

there isn't one to begin with, there's normally a can of tyre weld ;)
You sure? I know I have a space saver as I've used it

Its an option (~£50 if i remember correctly)

6.5x15 ET43 steel rim is the spare wheel size for an RS133, with 185/55/15

1.2 models have a 14" spare but also smaller brakes. So, these won't fit a 133 ;)

is it under warranty? surely this is something you might be able to kick up a fuss about if its new enough.

We bargained with the dealer when we got mums new (slightly used) ford ka -we got it home and realised it had an electric tyre pump thing, so we took it back the next day and asked for a a wheel instead, they just swapped us.

Cheers, hopefully I'll be able to get one from the dealer

The warranty is due to expire in November. Only issue with that is the warranty might be void...reason being the dealer is currently looking for the service history (which might be missing).

2 things I definitely should have checked on before signing to buy the car - check spare wheel and check service history! Two basic things to look at but two basic things missed. The lure of a decently-priced low mileage RS took over. Whoops.

If your warranty expires soon its worth checking lower ball joints while you have a chance. You not got a tyre inflation kit then in the wheel well?

Nope. The tool kit is there and there's clearly been a spare wheel at some point. I'll just have to plead with Evans Halshaw to sort me one out. Can't believe I didn't check beforehand :s

Mine is also due to expire soon (september) My local dealer is quite nice so I took it in a few weeks ago with a list of the common things people had been discussing on here (lower ball joints failing, leaking skuttle panel, misaligned boot look = rattle,) and asked them to give all these things a check, and the standard renault safety check - all free of charge including a hire car - something to think about for peace of mind when buying a new car.

also the service history should be on their computer - mine was serviced at a different garage and was recorded so that another dealer could see it. so just pop in and ask them to search our reg to "see if its due a service" and its history should pop up.

from y experience of evans halshaw - don't bother asking them. take it to a dedicated renault retailer, from my experiences they are often more lenient.
