Has anyone noticed that our twingo's and Clio's are the only cars to have their windscreen wipers in a LHD position on the windscreen?
Its never bothered me, but a friend of mine got in my car and kept saying that's so weired, so weired!! I was wondering what on earth he meant, but after studying many other cars on the road, they r the only ones so far with this set up!
Is it purely a cost saving measure?

It's really annoying! Basically, rather than properly moving them to the other side, Renault have just moved them further up the windscreen. As you say, it's purely a cost saving measure and it's typical of the attention to detail that Renault put into making cars suitable for the UK market.

I don't mind them at all to be honest, my old C1 had normal left to right set up and the blades always smeared rubbish over my line of vision as the returned down again, I find they leave a clearer sight now on the twingo and my dad found the same in his Clio, just so funny how my friend found it so weired lol

I have noticed this and find it a bit of a pain coz im tall and my vision is right where the wipers just reach to. Bit annoying but I like the style of the wipers with the big bit at the bottom. It also makes me clean the window more often with the set up like this lol

I found the wipers a bit odd to begin with, but now I've got used to them I don't notice at all. Think they do a good job of covering enough of the screen for me in my rs (and I'm 6ft6)

There's quite a few different arrangements of wipers on the road. There's peugeots and mpvs etc that have the wipers which are both pivoted on the outside an swing into the middle, have also seen a few strange one wiper arrangements.

Was a bit surprised when you said about Clio's being in a LHD arrangement. My previous car (Clio) and the loan car Clio I had a few weeks ago had their wipers in RHD arrangement :S

All 3 renaults I've owned and all many my family have owned have always been the same LHD wipers.

Don't even pay attention to it :s

Not bothered me once, but as most of us are into our detailing it seems, surely it can't bother many others? My screen is never a) dirty enough to be wiped down and b) has ample protection to mean wipers are rarely needed

So true keep it polished an the water just runs off whilst driving!

The only time it annoys me is whilst driving if you wash the screen the water flicks up off the edge of the wiper right in your line of sight lol

when I first got the car I found it a little weird but now I'm used to it I don't even notice it.

Mines nicely sealed with nanolex atm, not cheap, but so far it's been on since the day the car arrived and beads like nobodys business. Truely epic stuff :)

I thought they'd corrected this on the latest Clio?

My 206 had this it was annoying as when it rained a big chunk of the top right of the screen didn't get wiped - it's nowhere near as bad in the Twingo.

We pay enough for our cars its a bit tight of them to not do it IMO

I use rain-x so don't use them as much either, but I live under trees so the morning sap can be an issue!! My dads Clio has the LHD arrangement, a 2007 Clio I detailed also had the LHD arrangement along with a 2003 model, facelift may have resolved it on the Clio, good to c others r not bothered by it, my friend laughed at them and said they looked stupid!

I've never really worried about the wiper set up on the Twingos. Renault have been using the same set up on the Clios since the MKII in about '98. As said, no doubt it's a cost saving measure but doesn't really affect how they perform.

The only thing that annoys me is that you can't lift the left wiper off the screen properly. I'm guessing the hinge movement is limited for the left hand driver models. If the wipers are lower on those, then the wipe would catch the bonnet if it's tucked down lower. Still would have been nice for Renault to change that though.
