There was an explosion at a similar scale around 66 years ago and although I'm sure they put plenty of precautions into place, the massive concentration of ammonium nitrate in these buildings makes me wonder how it's not more of a regular occurance!
I remember buncefield going up one morning in December 2005/06. I was thrown from my bed and all the doors in the house blew open. And I've gotta be a good 8-10 miles away. This looks massive by comparison.
Buncefield was the Hemel Hempstead oil depot explosion in December 2005, wasn't it? I remember that, only for the massive plume of smoke that enveloped the sky afterwards.
