Afternoon:)

Some of you may know i have the back of my car stripped out.. so no seats... i used to have the spare wheel removed however i ended up putting it back in..

reasons for putting it back in:

1) the carpet just fell into the sparewheel well and look terrible
2) if i got a puncher i would be screwed

anyways..

1) how can i take the wheel out without the carpet looking awful and like it has fallen into the floor..i want it nice and flat and tidy...

2) if i got a puncher..then what? i have AA cover... isnt it illegal to drive without a spare wheel?

:)

1. you will have to make some kind of false floor that covers the well the spare sits in

2. its not illegal to go around without a spare wheel because smart cars, minis etc dont have them. to be on the safe side i would probably fit run flats

got wood? haha couldnt help myself :/

im useless with making things... who wants to make me some wood!? :p

As mentioned, wood or a piece of firm plastic should do the trick.

It isnt ilegal to not have a spare. My 200 didnt, got a puncture on the M56 on the way to a concert. Ended up on a tow truck home and missing the gig!

I dont even think many new cars come with a spare. Even on a bog standard twingo it costs £50 for one!

I'll tell you the same I told Al two years ago: you want this!

The styrofoam "wheel": 8200720581
plastic part that holds jack & stuff: 8200676846
two inflator sprays in case of puncture: 7711222802 (number covers 1 can)

;)

Just to warn you, all those parts are ridiculously expensive. Baring in mind one of them is just s piece of blown grey polystyrene!

Hence the reason why I didn't bother. I also didn't really need it as I drive around with my spare day to day and the whole lot comes out come trackdays.

Just to add it's not illegal to not have a spare, but if you do have one it must be legal; ie: enough tread, good condition etc. If you have a bald/flat spare tyre it will fail an MOT, so if that's likely remove it and you won't be marked on it ;)

The styrofoam "wheel": 8200720581 (Not a good number)plastic part that holds jack & stuff: 8200676846 £19.34
two inflator sprays in case of puncture: 7711222802 (number covers 1 can) £4.82

Karl we checked before didn't we - I'm sure it was almost the cost of a spare alloy all in?
