I`m thinking about upgrading the sound system in the twingo, as i really miss a good system as had one in both my last cars. (sub was so loud in the mini it used to blow the rear windows open :) )

The thing thats stopping me is, my twingo has the bluetooth soundpack and i dont want to lose that as i need it for work. Does anyone know if it is possible to keep the renault headunit, i`m guessing the answer will be no, but i thought it was worth a try!!!

You can wire a sub and amp of a genuine headunit you just cut into the rear speaker wires.

In my GT i had uprated door and rear quarter speakers. And a sub and amp. Might be worth talking to your local car audio specilist.

Ummmm, that was what i was thinking, i`m just not bothered about the headunit, I know it does make a difference quality, but the renault one isnt that bad and it has its plus points.

You'll need a high to low converter and tap into the speaker wires if you're using standard headunit.

I'm also interested in this as I like the OEM unit. The standard speakers are surprisingly good quality and I like the screen and bluetooth functions of it but I would like a sub.

If you cut into the rear speaker feeds, does that mean you lose the rear speaker output all together? I assume it converts the rear speaker connection to an RCA output you then plug into an amp?

This is also what i wondered, also how easier would it be to re-connect if i wanted to take the sub out and run the rear speakers again.

No you thake a feed from the rear speaker wires but still have your orginal rear speakers.

Indeed but I ran 2 speaker cables to the back of the head unit and taped into the rear speakers there as it is Easyer than trying to take the panels of the the back and risk breaking the clips on them like I did on one of the panels to get at the speakers also if you get a sub what I got yes it does sound good as it is but the standard head unit will only put out 1v rather that the 9v that a sub really needs to get a good sound quality and to over come that you will need a delta Box that vibe do, it enables you to fine tune it and give the subs amp the correct power to function properly and will also need a RCA converter that will need to be taped into the rear speakers to be able to run a RCA to the delta box :)

Also pioneer do a actual Renault speeker kit it is about £90 quid I think and it comes with 2 door speakers and 2 tweeters and there is no need for atapters nothing it has the Renault speakers sockets on them just un-screw un clip the old one plug in new and screw back up I will be getting it for mine also they sound great ! Also not sure what wattage they are I beleave there over 100watt a speeker obviously the tweeter will be higher they can take a lot more abuse than the standard stuff :D

Does the bluetooth sound pack headunit not have an RCA output?

I've been thinking about doing a wee practical install over the last couple of weeks, just kinda need to pull my finger out to look at it.

Also *hate to hijack*, where is the access point through the bulkhead for a 12v Amp feed and could I just splice into the Power source for the headunit for the Amp remote line?

Cheers Guys and Gals

I don't believe it does have RCAs but I don't have one so can't confirm this.

There is a grommet in the passenger footwell just under the edge of the carpet which has the bonent release cable, you can pull this, cut it and push your cable through there or even just pull it so it's loose and put the power cable around it (risk it rubbing against the metal but unlikely as it shouldn't move).

You should be able to splice into a wire for a remote line however with the standard headunit I can't tell which wire it would be.
